I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience within technology, SaaS, HR services, people-related services, or another regulated environment would be useful, although broader commercial experience could also be relevant.
Exposure to prospecting platforms, structured outbound campaigns, or AI-enabled sales tools would also be advantageous, but these are not essential requirements.
Who this could suit
This could work particularly well for someone who has already built some experience in sales and now wants greater ownership of opportunities.
You might currently be working as a:
- Business Development Representative
- Sales Development Representative
- Business Development Executive
- Internal Sales Executive
- Telesales Executive
- Account Development Executive
- Junior Account Executive
The environment should suit somebody energetic, commercially-minded, and comfortable taking responsibility for their own pipeline.
If you enjoy building relationships, uncovering opportunities, and seeing your conversations turn into revenue, this could be a strong next step.
