About the Role

Built on meritocracy, our unique company culture rewards self-starters and those who are committed to doing what is best for our customers. Location: Field-based / Remote, with regular UK travel Package: Competitive / Negotiable + Car Allowance + Performance-Related Reward + Benefits

Role Purpose

To grow income and business placed through Hedron by deeply understanding each broker's business, strategy and ambitions, identifying commercial opportunities and converting them into results through Hedron's insurer panel, products and services. The successful person will combine the hunger and pace of a high-performing salesperson with the questioning skills, insurance credibility and strategic judgement of a trusted adviser. Relationships are critical, but the relationship is the means to a commercial outcome, not the outcome itself.

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive profitable growth across an established panel of independent brokers, delivering agreed income, placement, retention and service-adoption objectives.
  • Use broker data, market intelligence and commercial insight to identify under penetration, upcoming opportunities, placement potential and ways to increase use of Hedron's panel markets and wider services.
  • Build, prioritise and actively manage a visible pipeline of opportunities, with clear value, next actions, owners and timescales. Maintain momentum through to conversion.
  • Influence owners, MDs and directors at a strategic level while engaging account executives, handlers and wider broking teams to uncover and progress opportunities throughout the business.
  • Mobilise insurer BDMs, underwriters and internal specialists to solve problems, improve propositions and get deals across the line.
  • Constructively challenge brokers where appropriate, using evidence, market knowledge and commercial judgement to help them achieve better outcomes.
  • Introduce and increase adoption of relevant Hedron products, resources and services where they support the broker's commercial objectives.
  • Create and execute joint broker growth plans, using agreed measures to track progress, challenge performance and adjust activity.
  • Identify acquisition-led growth opportunities where relevant, including books of business, businesses and team opportunities, and connect brokers with appropriate specialist support.
  • Understand insurer strategies, appetite and local priorities so broker growth opportunities can be aligned with the right markets.
  • Bring competitor, broker and market intelligence back into Hedron to help improve propositions, campaigns and commercial strategy.
  • Operate within appropriate regulatory, governance and delegated authority requirements, engaging specialist support where needed.
  • Maintain disciplined CRM, activity, pipeline and action records. Follow through on commitments with pace and attention to detail.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we’re looking for

  • First and foremost, you are a salesperson. You get a genuine buzz from winning, enjoy having a number to beat and are always looking for the next opportunity.
  • A strong track record of sales performance, target achievement and commercial growth, ideally within the UK general insurance market.
  • Strong commercial insurance knowledge and credibility with UK insurance brokers.
  • Demonstrable experience influencing business owners, MDs, directors and senior decision-makers.
  • Exceptional questioning and active-listening skills, with the curiosity and confidence to get beneath the surface of a broker's business.
  • Ability to understand 1, 3 and 5-year business objectives and convert those ambitions into practical commercial plans and sales opportunities.
  • Energy, hunger, resilience, competitiveness and a strong desire to win.
  • A proactive mindset: you create opportunities rather than waiting for them.
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills, with an ability to interrogate MI, challenge what the numbers are saying and turn data into action and revenue.
  • Disciplined pipeline management, organisation, prioritisation and attention to detail.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management capability.
  • Confidence to challenge customers constructively and overcome resistance without damaging relationships.
  • Ability to build relationships at every level, from boardroom to broking floor.
  • Initiative, personal ownership and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Working knowledge of broking platforms; Acturis experience would be advantageous.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly, including overnight stays.
