Business Development Consultant
Technology Recruitment, Coaching & Consultancy
Leeds City Centre - Hybrid
£40,000-£50,000 basic + uncapped commission + bonus
If winning new clients is the part of recruitment you enjoy most, this could be worth a look.
I'm working with a profitable, founder-led technology recruitment and consultancy business generating more than £5m in annual revenue.
They're looking for an experienced recruitment salesperson to focus on opening new client relationships and creating revenue.
This isn't a delivery-heavy 360 role.
Your job is to identify where opportunities exist, get in front of the right people, start conversations and turn those conversations into business.
You'll have three propositions to take to market:
- Technology recruitment
- Leadership and coaching programmes
- Consultancy and project-based solutions
You'll work closely with the founders and have an established delivery team behind you to fulfil the recruitment work you generate.
What you'll be doing
- Identifying and targeting prospective technology clients
- Picking up the phone and opening conversations with senior decision-makers
- Building relationships with CIOs, CTOs, technology leaders and senior HR/Talent stakeholders
- Spotting opportunities across recruitment, coaching and consultancy
- Getting out to client meetings, networking and industry events
- Developing existing relationships as well as creating new ones
- Turning conversations into genuine commercial opportunities

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
There's plenty of scope to research markets, identify triggers and develop intelligent approaches to prospective clients, but this is ultimately a hands-on sales role. You'll need to be someone who enjoys taking that research and doing something with it.
Why consider it?
- £40,000-£50,000 basic salary
- Uncapped commission on the business you generate
- Additional bonus opportunity
- No expectation to spend half your week delivering roles
- Established delivery capability behind you
- Multiple services to take to clients
- Direct access to the founders
- Genuine autonomy over how you develop business
- Scope to grow into a much broader commercial role over time

Who could fit?
You'll probably already work in recruitment and have genuine experience of winning new clients. You might be a 360 technology recruiter whose strength has always been the client side and who would happily leave most of the candidate delivery behind.
Or you may already work in a dedicated recruitment BD/client development role.
Technology recruitment experience would be ideal. At minimum, you'll need enough recruitment-sector experience and commercial credibility to get up to speed quickly and hold your own with senior technology clients.
You'll be comfortable prospecting by phone, meeting clients face to face and dealing with the inevitable rejection that comes with creating new business.
Most importantly, you'll genuinely want to build your career in sales.
If winning the work has always interested you more than filling it, I'd like to speak with you confidentially.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
