We are looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Consultant to help grow our client base across the UK & EU technology market. This is a sales-focused role, with the primary responsibility of identifying new business opportunities, engaging prospective clients, building relationships with senior decision-makers, and converting opportunities into long-term commercial partnerships.
You will showcase Akoni Technologies' capabilities in technology resourcing, consultancy, and digital transformation, helping organisations access specialist technology talent, flexible delivery teams, and technology solutions.
We're looking for someone with experience in technology recruitment, staffing, IT consultancy, professional services, or B2B technology sales, and who is comfortable generating new business through proactive outreach.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
- Proactively identify and target new clients across the UK & EU technology and professional services market.
- Generate new business opportunities through cold calling, LinkedIn, email campaigns, networking, referrals, and industry events.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects and commercial opportunities.
- Engage with senior stakeholders including CIOs, CTOs, Heads of Technology, IT Directors, Transformation Directors, Procurement teams, and Talent Acquisition leaders.
- Arrange and lead introductory meetings, discovery calls, and client presentations.
- Understand prospective clients' technology, transformation, and resourcing challenges and identify suitable solutions.
- Develop targeted account and business development strategies for priority organisations and sectors.
Sales & Commercial Management
- Own opportunities from initial prospecting through qualification, proposal, negotiation, and close.
- Work towards agreed revenue, new-client, and activity targets.
- Negotiate commercial terms, rates, and agreements with prospective clients.
- Prepare proposals, presentations, and commercial documentation with support from internal teams.
- Maintain accurate sales activity, opportunities, and forecasting information within the CRM.
- Monitor market activity and identify emerging sectors, technologies, and potential areas for growth.
- Keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies within the tech recruitment industry.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
