Role Description

As a Business Development Consultant (BDC) for OnTheMarket, you will:

  • Maintain a high level of integrity while managing, nurturing, and growing your existing client base.
  • Join a dynamic, entrepreneurial sales team dedicated to promoting the full OTM product suite—selling, training, and retaining clients.
  • Play a crucial role in driving OTM’s mission to become the UK’s leading residential property portal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospecting & Business Growth: Identify and generate new business opportunities while fostering long-term client relationships.
  • Product Knowledge: Deeply understand the OTM product suite and align it with client needs.
  • Lead Identification & Outreach: Source and engage with potential new clients through sales calls, emails, and network expansion.
  • Client Meetings: Conduct face-to-face discussions with new and existing clients to explore solutions.
  • Negotiation & Account Management: Finalise business terms and collaborate with senior leadership to mitigate risks and align stakeholders.
  • Consultative Selling: Leverage relationship-building skills to pitch products, address objections, and nurture prospects.
  • Industry Advocacy: Represent OTM at industry events, networking functions, and property-related gatherings.

Requirements

  • Proven sales track record, preferably in property portals, digital platforms, or high-commission environments.
  • Experience in client retention and growth, including maintaining long-term strategised relationships.
  • Outstanding soft skills: Persuasive communication, confident objection handling, and the ability to simplify complex proposals.
  • Strong organisational drive with the ability to meet sales targets efficiently and analytically.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Consultative selling mindset with robust account management techniques.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s licence (passes a driving record check) for field work and client meetings.
  • Ability to navigate enterprise dynamics: identifying decision-makers, influencers and barriers to sales closure.
