Role Description

As a Business Development Consultant (BDC) for OnTheMarket, you will:

  • Excel in managing, nurturing, and growing an existing client base with integrity.
  • Contribute to a dynamic, entrepreneurial sales team dedicated to advancing OTM as the UK’s #1 residential property portal.
  • Use a collaborative sales approach to sell, train, and retain clients across the entire OTM product suite.

Business Growth & Client Engagement

  • Develop new business through sourcing, generating, and building relationships with prospects and existing clients.
  • Matrix data-driven insights to identify high-potential sales leads.
  • Directly engage with new and existing clients through in-person meetings and consultations.
  • Negotiate favorable business terms with both new and existing clients.

Sales & Consultation

  • Deeply understand the OTM product suite and position offerings to meet exact client needs.
  • Utilize top-tier communication and objection-handling skills to pitch products effectively.
  • Build consultative, relationship-driven sales with account management techniques.
  • Map internal company structures, identifying key stakeholders (decision-makers, influencers, blockers) to streamline transactions.

Market Representation & Networking

  • Represent OnTheMarket at industry events, networking with property professionals.
  • Foster connections within your geographic region (South Coast, Bournemouth, Southampton, Dorset).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Established sales track record, ideally in online marketplaces, portals, or similar B2B environments (considered open to other sales backgrounds).
  • Proven ability to maintain and grow client relationships over the medium to long term.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and objection-handling skills with strong confidence in explaining complex proposals.
  • An intuitive consultative selling style, leveraging account management to expand client value over time.
  • Sophisticated relationship-building and problem-solving mindset with clients.
  • Ability to navigate company hierarchies, identifying the key decision-makers and aligning stakeholders.
  • Degree level or equivalent vocational experience.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license and agree to the completion of a Driving Record/Driving Abstract check prior to entry.
