New Markets Business Development Coordinator

Commercial Roofing | New Market Development | Business Development

Are you commercially curious, proactive and driven by the opportunity to find new revenue streams?

We are looking for a New Markets Business Development Coordinator to help identify, test and develop new commercial opportunities within the roofing sector. This is not a traditional appointment-setting role. Your purpose will be to establish where the business can build profitable, repeatable sales in new markets before significant resource is committed.

You will combine market research, prospecting, qualification and early-stage commercial development, working closely with the wider sales and commercial teams to turn promising opportunities into viable new markets.

The Role

You will be responsible for exploring markets and customer groups where the business currently has limited or no presence, identifying where there is genuine commercial potential and developing the initial relationships needed to prove the opportunity.

You will:

  • Research and identify new markets, sectors, customer groups and applications for the company's commercial roofing products and solutions.
  • Build a clear understanding of market size, customer needs, competitors, buying processes and potential routes to market.
  • Identify and develop target accounts and key decision-makers.
  • Undertake proactive outbound prospecting, using telephone, email, LinkedIn and other channels.
  • Have meaningful commercial conversations to understand customer requirements, current suppliers, challenges and buying drivers.
  • Qualify opportunities based on commercial potential, profitability, repeatability and strategic fit.
  • Develop early-stage relationships with potential customers and partners.
  • Test propositions and establish whether there is a genuine appetite to buy.
  • Gather market intelligence and feed this back into the business to help shape future strategy.
  • Maintain accurate records of activity, opportunities, market feedback and results.
  • Work with senior sales and commercial colleagues to determine which opportunities warrant further investment.
  • Help develop repeatable sales models that can subsequently be scaled by the wider business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is commercially driven, inquisitive and comfortable creating opportunities from scratch.

You may come from a background in:

  • Business development
  • B2B sales
  • Commercial roofing or construction
  • Building products
  • Specification sales
  • Technical sales
  • Market development
  • Lead generation with genuine sales responsibility
  • A construction-related merchant or manufacturer environment

Most importantly, you will be someone who doesn't simply want to make calls and book meetings. You will want to understand why a market represents an opportunity, who buys, what they buy, why they buy it and whether the opportunity can generate sustainable revenue.

You'll Need

  • Strong B2B prospecting and business development skills.
  • Excellent telephone and communication skills.
  • The confidence to engage with decision-makers and open new conversations.
  • A naturally investigative approach — you enjoy finding out how markets work.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify genuine opportunities.
  • Good research and analytical skills.
  • The persistence to develop opportunities where there isn't an established customer base.
  • The ability to qualify opportunities rather than simply generate activity.
  • Strong organisation and CRM discipline.
  • A proactive, self-starting attitude.
  • Ideally, an understanding of commercial roofing, construction or building products.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role won't simply be measured by the number of calls made or meetings booked. You will be judged on your ability to answer questions such as:

  • Which new markets should we enter?
  • Which customers have a genuine need for our products?
  • What proposition will they buy?
  • Can we win business profitably?
  • Is there enough repeat potential to justify further investment?

Your work will ultimately help the business make better commercial decisions — investing resource where there is proven potential and avoiding markets that don't stack up.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious business development professional to play a genuine role in shaping where the company grows next. You'll have the opportunity to research markets, open doors, develop relationships, test commercial propositions and see your work progress from an initial idea into a genuine revenue opportunity.

If you're commercially curious, entrepreneurial in your approach and motivated by finding opportunities rather than simply managing an existing customer base, we'd like to hear from you.
