Job Title: Business Development Coordinator

Reports to: Sales & Commercial Director

Location: Durham

Purpose of the Role

This role is pivotal in driving sales growth across UK and Export markets through proactive customer engagement, quotation management, and business development activities.

You will play a key role in developing relationships with both new and existing customers, identifying opportunities, and supporting the wider sales function to achieve revenue and growth targets. The role combines internal sales excellence with structured prospecting and account management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Development & Customer Engagement

  • Provide quotations to new and existing customers, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Manage and expedite quotations and sales opportunities, following through to conversion.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers to understand their requirements and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Promote PC Henderson products effectively to support revenue growth and product awareness.

Account Management

  • Take direct responsibility for the management of selected UK customer accounts.
  • Drive account growth through proactive engagement, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Support the development and management of Export customers in collaboration with the wider team.

Prospecting & Business Development

  • Proactively prospect for new business opportunities using multiple channels including online research and Barbour ABI project tracking tools.
  • Identify, contact, and nurture potential customers to build a sustainable sales pipeline.
  • Support inbound and outbound lead generation activities, including calls and email campaigns.

CRM & Reporting

  • Maintain and update the CRM system with accurate and up-to-date information on customer interactions, opportunities, and pipeline progress.
  • Track and monitor quotation success rates and sales activity to support continuous improvement.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with internal departments including Customer Service, Planning, and Production to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Contribute to sales plans and initiatives to drive performance improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and customer experience.

Skills, Competencies, and Personal Experience Required

Essential

  • Experience in an internal sales, business development, or customer-facing commercial role.
  • Proven ability to generate and convert sales opportunities.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage pipelines and customer data.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive, results-driven approach.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Experience within manufacturing, construction, or technical products.
