About Briarwood Partners
Briarwood Partners is a specialist investment management distribution and advisory business. We partner with a select group of asset managers and alternative investment firms, helping them develop relationships with institutional investors, family offices, wealth managers and other professional investors across Europe and the Middle East.
We have a global team of 10 people and are looking for an intern to support our business development activities, with a particular focus on investor research, lead generation and CRM management.
The role
This is a 3 to 6 month paid internship. It involves a hands-on role working closely with Briarwood's distribution team. The successful candidate will help us identify prospective investors, improve the quality of the data within our CRM and ensure that our sales team is consistently focused on the most relevant opportunities.
The role would suit someone who is highly organised, commercially curious, comfortable working with data and interested in learning about investment management, sales and capital raising. We are also keen to find someone who is interested in how AI, automation and other technology tools can be used to make research, lead generation and CRM management more efficient.
Key responsibilities
- Lead generation: Research and identify prospective institutional investors, family offices, wealth managers, private banks, consultants and other relevant allocators across our target markets.
- Investor research: Build profiles of prospective investors, including investment preferences, relevant personnel, existing manager relationships and potential fit with Briarwood's clients.
- CRM management: Maintain and improve the quality of our Zoho CRM, including adding new prospects, updating contact information, categorising investors and removing or consolidating outdated data.
- Pipeline support: Help the distribution team maintain accurate records of investor interactions, opportunities, follow-ups and next steps.
- Market mapping: Build targeted lists of investors by geography, investor type, strategy and other relevant criteria.
- Data enrichment: Use publicly available information, LinkedIn and other research tools to improve the quality and completeness of our investor database.
- Campaign support: Help prepare targeted prospect lists for new manager launches, roadshows and other business development initiatives.
- AI & automation: Explore how AI and automation tools can be incorporated into our research, lead-generation and CRM processes to improve the efficiency and quality of our business development activities.
- Reporting: Produce simple reports on prospecting activity, CRM coverage and the development of our investor universe.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who we're looking for
We are more interested in aptitude, attitude and curiosity than extensive previous experience.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a recent graduate or at an early stage of their career.
- Have excellent attention to detail and be comfortable working with large amounts of information and data.
- Be highly organised and able to work independently.
- Have strong written English and communication skills.
- Be confident using Excel and other data-management tools.
- Be naturally curious, resourceful and comfortable conducting detailed online research.
- Have an interest in investment management, financial markets, business development or sales.
- Be comfortable working in a small, entrepreneurial business where responsibilities can evolve quickly.
- Have an interest in technology and how new tools can be used to improve traditional research and sales processes.
Preferred experience
Previous experience is not essential, but any of the following would be advantageous:
- Experience using a CRM system such as Zoho, Salesforce or HubSpot.
- Experience or a good working knowledge of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar platforms.
- An understanding of how AI and automation tools can be used for research, lead generation, data enrichment, CRM management and improving sales workflows.
- Experience using LinkedIn and other online research tools to identify organisations and relevant decision-makers.
- Strong Excel skills and/or experience manipulating, cleaning or analysing datasets.
- Previous exposure to financial services, investment management, sales, research or business development.
- We are particularly interested in candidates who are comfortable experimenting with new technology and can identify ways in which AI, automation and data tools could improve the efficiency of Briarwood's business development process.

What you'll get from the internship
This isn't intended to be an administrative internship where you're disconnected from the commercial side of the business.
You'll work directly with senior members of Briarwood's distribution team and gain exposure to:
- How investment managers raise institutional capital.
- How professional investors and family offices select investment managers.
- The commercial sales process within asset management.
- Investor segmentation and market mapping.
- CRM and pipeline management.
- How AI and technology can be incorporated into a modern business development process.
- The day-to-day workings of a specialist investment management distribution business.
For a strong performer, there may also be opportunities to take on broader responsibilities during the internship.
Working arrangements
We have a preference for London based candidates, but are flexible on working arrangements and would consider candidates who are:
- London-based and able to work on a hybrid basis; or
- Based elsewhere in the UK and able to work predominantly remotely.
The internship will be paid, with compensation discussed depending on experience and working arrangements.
How to apply
Please send us your CV together with a short note explaining why the role interests you and why you think you would be well suited to it.
We would also be interested to hear about any experience you have using AI or automation tools for research, data management or improving the efficiency of your work.
