Business Development Director – Pipers Model Makers

Pipers Model Makers is seeking an accomplished Business Development Director to lead the growth the UK’s preeminent architectural model-making business.

For five decades, Pipers has helped leading developers, architects and city-shapers bring ambitious projects and places to life. We have an outstanding reputation, a client history and exciting new products ready for commercial growth.

This is an opportunity to create and lead our business development function, not simply inherit a sales target. You will define our priority markets and accounts, build senior relationships, identify projects before formal briefs emerge and create a high-quality forward pipeline.

You will also benefit from access to the relationships, intelligence and membership network of our sister company, New London Architecture (NLA), and The London Centre, a distinctive platform for engaging organisations shaping London and the wider built environment.

What you will do:

  • Develop and execute Pipers’ business development strategy.
  • Build a marketing capability that better demonstrates our expertise by way of case studies, client communications and targeted lead generation that actively supports our growth plans.
  • Build trusted relationships with developers, architects, property companies and senior decision-makers.
  • Work alongside our leadership team to engage former clients and establish Pipers with new prospective customers in the UK and further afield.
  • Use the New London Model, City of London Model and NLA network to create relevant routes into prospective clients.
  • Identify future projects, decision-makers and model-making requirements early, then work with our Commercial Director to convert qualified opportunities.
  • Help commercialise our new products

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you will bring

You may currently be a Business Development, Commercial or Sales Director or senior client-development leader within the built environment sector; working in property development, architecture, construction, engineering, design, professional services, PropTech, communications or an associated sector.

You will combine a proven record of generating new business with relationship-building, account-planning and pipeline-management skills. You will be credible with senior clients, commercially astute, persistent and comfortable operating in a specialist business where reputation, judgement and quality matter.

We’re not expecting you to know about our industry, instead we’ll want you to develop a genuine enthusiasm for what we do and how we do it. Your ability to work collaboratively with our team to understand our clients, learn a distinctive offer and use your knowledge and experience to turn market relationships into profitable opportunities, will be far more important attributes.
