Business Development Director

Accountancy & Business Advisory Sector

Location: Birmingham

Salary: Competitive + bonus + benefits

Contract: Permanent, full-time

An established and well-regarded firm of Accountants, part of a wider national group of Accountants and Business Advisors, is looking to appoint a Business Development Director. This is a senior, outward-facing role focused on winning new client relationships and accelerating growth across all service lines.

You’ll work closely with the firm’s Partners and service leaders to shape market approach, open doors, and convert opportunities through high-quality relationship building, strategic engagement, and visible networking.

The Opportunity

This role will suit a proven Business Development professional who thrives on creating new relationships, building credibility fast, and developing a strong referral network across a defined region/sector. You’ll be given the platform, brand, and breadth of services of a national firm, alongside the agility and personality of a local practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a new-business strategy to drive new client acquisition across all service lines (e.g., audit, accounts, tax, advisory, corporate finance, wealth, restructuring, etc.).
  • Build a sustainable pipeline through strategic networking, events, introductions, and targeted engagement with business owners, CFOs, and key decision-makers.
  • Identify priority sectors/markets, map target prospects, and create actionable go-to-market plans with Partners.
  • Manage opportunities from first conversation through to proposal, pitch, and close, bringing the right technical experts into the room at the right time.
  • Strengthen the firm’s external profile through attendance and representation at key regional events, forums, and professional networks.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with introducers (banks, solicitors, corporate finance advisers, PE community, IFAs, etc.).
  • Track activity and performance through CRM/MI, ensuring clear forecasting and reporting to senior stakeholders.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
