Job Purpose
As Business Development Director, you will play a senior role in driving SPS’s growth across Enterprise Workplace Solutions, identifying and securing high-value, complex opportunities with enterprise clients. Working closely with senior leaders, bid, commercial, operational and solutions teams, you will shape compelling propositions that demonstrate SPS’s capability to transform workplace services, improve client outcomes and deliver long-term value.
The purpose of this role is to lead the development and conversion of strategic new business opportunities for SPS Enterprise Workplace Solutions (EWS), from market engagement and opportunity creation through to solution design, commercial negotiation and signed contract.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic new business plan for Enterprise Workplace Solutions, aligned to SPS’s growth priorities and target markets
- Identify, build and convert a high-quality pipeline of enterprise opportunities through senior-level networking, targeted prospecting, market insight and strategic relationship development
- Lead complex, high-value sales engagements across long sales cycles, acting as a trusted advisor to C-suite and senior client stakeholders
- Shape innovative workplace solutions that bring together SPS capabilities across onsite services, document and information management, digital mailroom, records, workflow optimisation and broader workplace operations
- Translate client challenges into outcome-led propositions, building clear business cases that demonstrate efficiency, service improvement, risk reduction and commercial value
- Lead competitive bid and proposal activity in partnership with bid, commercial, operational and solution design colleagues to create compelling, client-focused responses
- Develop and maintain strong relationships across client organisations, industry networks, partners and internal senior stakeholders
- Maintain a strong understanding of enterprise workplace trends, outsourcing, technology-enabled services, procurement drivers and competitor activity
- Own commercial strategy for opportunities, including pricing approach, margin expectations, risk considerations, governance and contract negotiation
- Negotiate senior-level commercial and contractual terms to secure profitable, sustainable and strategically aligned business
- Provide accurate forecasting, pipeline reporting and market intelligence through the CRM system and relevant business governance forums
- Act as a senior ambassador for SPS, supporting a high-performance sales culture and mentoring colleagues where appropriate

Candidate Skills
- Significant experience in senior business development, enterprise solution sales or strategic outsourcing sales, ideally within workplace services, facilities, document management, BPO or technology-enabled services
- Proven track record of winning high-value, complex new business opportunities with large enterprise clients
- Strong understanding of Enterprise Workplace Solutions, including onsite managed services, digital mailroom, document services, records and information management, workflow optimisation and service transformation
- Credible and confident engaging with C-suite, senior procurement, real estate, workplace, facilities, operations and transformation stakeholders
- Commercially astute, with the ability to develop business cases, understand pricing models, assess profitability and negotiate sustainable client agreements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality proposals, executive summaries, presentations and board-level materials
- Strategic, self-motivated and resilient, with strong ownership of pipeline development, forecasting, relationship management and deal progression
- Able to collaborate effectively with bid, commercial, operational, legal, finance and solution design teams to shape and deliver winning propositions
- Strong market awareness, professional network and ability to represent SPS externally with credibility, energy and impact.
