Business Development Director – Telecoms & Media

Up to £140,000 Base + Bonus + Benefits, London, Hybrid/On-site, UK & EMEA Coverage, Enterprise Technology, Global Technology Company

We're looking for an exceptional Business Development Director with deep experience across Telecoms, Media and Enterprise Software who knows how to open doors that others can't, build relationships at the highest level and turn complex opportunities into significant commercial wins.

This is a genuine new-logo hunter opportunity.

You'll be given the freedom, responsibility and platform to go after major telecom operators, digital service providers and adjacent markets across the UK and EMEA—and build something meaningful from the ground up.

If you're energised by the chase, thrive in complex enterprise environments and get your biggest buzz from winning a customer who wasn't previously on the books, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

THE OPPORTUNITY

You'll sit at the very front end of a major regional growth strategy. Your mission is simple: But this isn't transactional sales. You'll be working with some of the most complex organisations in the telecommunications and digital services ecosystem, engaging senior decision-makers and helping them solve major commercial and technology challenges. You'll build relationships with C-suite executives and senior stakeholders across business, technology, operations and procurement, understand what's driving their organisation and ultimately position sophisticated enterprise technology solutions around genuine business outcomes. You'll be expected to think strategically, act commercially and hunt relentlessly.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO:

  • Create new business

    • Identify, develop and close new-logo opportunities across telecom operators, digital service providers and adjacent markets throughout the UK and EMEA.
    • You'll be expected to build relationships from scratch—not simply inherit an existing account base.
  • Build a territory you can own

    • Develop intelligent territory and account strategies around priority organisations, whitespace opportunities, market triggers and long-term penetration.
    • You'll need to understand where the opportunity is before everyone else sees it.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

  • Get in front of the people who matter

    • Build genuine credibility with C-suite and senior executives across commercial, technology, operations and procurement functions.
    • You won't just be selling technology.
    • You'll be having conversations about growth, transformation, customer experience, operational efficiency and commercial performance.
  • Own complex enterprise sales cycles

    • Navigate sophisticated, multi-stakeholder buying environments from initial engagement through qualification, proposition development, procurement, negotiation and ultimately signature.
    • These are potentially multi-million-pound/dollar opportunities, so you'll need the confidence and commercial maturity to operate at that level.
  • Shape the deal—not just respond to it

    • Lead strategic RFI/RFP opportunities and work with technical, product, delivery, marketing and partner teams to create propositions that are compelling because they solve real customer problems.
  • Create momentum

    • Work collaboratively across the wider organisation to generate demand, develop compelling win strategies, strengthen executive relationships and increase visibility within the telecoms ecosystem.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We're not looking for someone who simply has "telecoms sales" on their CV. We're looking for someone who can hunt, influence, strategise and win.

You will ideally bring:

  • A proven track record in enterprise software sales / business development
  • Deep knowledge of the Telecoms & Media sector
  • Strong understanding of BSS / OSS, revenue management, customer care, service fulfilment, CPQ, product catalogue, order management and/or digital transformation
  • A demonstrable history of winning new customers
  • Experience managing complex, lengthy enterprise sales cycles
  • The confidence to engage directly with C-suite and senior executives
  • Experience shaping and closing high-value, multi-million-pound/dollar opportunities
  • Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication ability
  • A structured approach to qualification, ideally using MEDDPICC or a comparable methodology
  • The resilience and persistence required to develop opportunities where there may initially be none

Experience within a leading telecom software vendor, systems integrator, consultancy or telecom operator would be highly advantageous. An existing executive network across UK, European or international telecom operators and digital service providers would be a significant plus. Native or fluent English is essential. Additional European languages would be advantageous.

THE PERSON

You might already be a Business Development Director, Sales Director, Enterprise Sales Director, Client Director, Strategic Account Director or New Business Director. Your title isn't the important part.

What you've achieved is.

  • You're commercially hungry.
  • You're curious.
  • You don't take rejection personally.
  • You know how to get through the first door, even when the first door is firmly closed.
  • You can sit comfortably with a CEO one minute, a CTO the next and a procurement director after that.
  • You understand that major enterprise deals aren't won by one great presentation.
  • They're won through strategy, relationships, persistence, credibility and exceptional execution.
  • And perhaps most importantly, you genuinely enjoy winning.

WHY THIS ROLE?

You'll have significant autonomy to develop strategic relationships, build a regional pipeline and influence some of the most important transformation programmes taking place across the communications sector.

You'll have the backing of a sophisticated enterprise technology proposition—but you'll be the catalyst. Your relationships. Your ideas. Your energy. Your ability to open doors. Your ability to influence. Your ability to close.

That's what will make the difference.
