Job Overview
The Business Development Director will lead the strategic growth through new business development of the Kelling Division. This role is responsible for driving revenue, expanding market share, and developing long-term client and stakeholder relationships in core sectors. The Business Development Director will identify and convert new business opportunities, optimise key growth partnerships, and ensure the division achieves sustainable growth through added value selling and new business development in chosen core industry sectors, frameworks, and prospect accounts.

Key Responsibilities
- Reports into: Group Commercial Director.
- Responsible for line management of: None.
- Deliver growth targets, maximise sales revenue and new business opportunities with a focus on key prospects and growth accounts in strategic sectors from site/project level up to board level.
- Manage the new sales activity reporting on account acquisition and new business pipeline.
Strategic Growth, Sales & Revenue Generation
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with corporate objectives and market trends for long-term sustainable account acquisition.
- Identify and convert new customer opportunities partnerships to strengthen the division’s competitive position.
- Deliver year-on-year revenue growth through agreed new business and growth customer channels.
- Establish and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor sales pipeline, conversion rates, and profitability.
- Onboard and secure high-value contracts and framework agreements with national and strategic prospects and clients.
Market & Customer Insight
- Conduct market analysis to anticipate customer needs, emerging trends, and competitor activities.
- Foster strategic relationships with major contractors, infrastructure providers, and industry bodies.
- Champion customer experience and service excellence across all business development activities.
- Contribute to pricing strategy, service innovation, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Support bid management and tender submissions.

Governance & Reporting
- Monitor and forecast sales performance, pipeline, and growth forecasts providing regular reports to the executive team.
- Ensure all business development activities comply with group strategy.
Key Skills & Experience
- Self-starter hunter with the ability to onboard added value new business and get deals over the line.
- Proven track record of senior-level business development.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience developing strategic account portfolios.
- Demonstrated ability to win strategic partnerships and secure long-term contracts.
- Excellent sales leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Deep understanding of the UK hire market, including channel dynamics and sectoral growth drivers.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
