As our Business Development Director, you are the primary engine of our market expansion and the architect of our revenue future. This is a high-stakes, high-autonomy role designed for a visionary "hunter" who doesn't just navigate the clinical research landscape but reshapes it. You will be the face of Innovative Trials to the global pharmaceutical, biotech, and CRO sectors, turning ambitious targets into tangible market dominance.

Reporting directly to the VP of Commercial, you will champion our strategy—revitalizing dormant partnerships, scaling existing accounts, and capturing net-new market share. Your mission is clear: to identify the unmet needs of the world’s leading innovators and deliver the patient recruitment solutions that bring life-saving treatments to the finish line.

  • Ability to travel as required
  • Experience working with CRM systems, in particular Salesforce
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to understand complex business models.
  • A proactive, results-oriented mindset with a strong bias for action.
  • A strong list of previous clients/connections within Pharmaceuticals, Biotechs, CRO’s and others
  • Self Discipline

1. Strategic Market Growth & Intelligence

  • Visionary Strategy: Designs and executes high-level business development roadmaps to capture new market segments and geographic regions.
  • Competitive Analysis: Translates market research and industry trends into actionable intelligence to inform executive-level decision-making.
  • Long-term Planning: Collaborates with the C-suite to align sales activities with the company’s overarching 5-year growth objectives.

2. High-Stakes Acquisition & Influence

  • Enterprise Sales Leadership: Sources and secures high-value, complex contracts, focusing on dominating the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.
  • Strategic Diplomacy: Cultivates deep-rooted relationships with C-suite stakeholders and industry influencers to position the brand as a premier partner.
  • Negotiation Mastery: Leads complex contract cycles from inception to close, ensuring commercial terms are both competitive and protective of the business.
  • Market Presence: Serves as a senior ambassador, leveraging industry events and conferences to build brand equity and expand the professional network.

3. Operational Excellence & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Product-Market Fit: Partners with Product and Marketing teams to ensure service offerings are perfectly calibrated to meet current and future market demands.
  • Pipeline Integrity: Delivers high-precision forecasting and data-driven insights to the VP Commercial, ensuring total transparency of the sales funnel.
  • Execution Oversight: Bridges the gap between "the win" and "the work," ensuring a seamless transition of new business to the Operations team.

4. Commercial Engineering & Revenue Stewardship

  • Revenue Growth & Profitability: Drives high-value lead conversion and manages the initial pricing strategy to ensure new contracts meet aggressive revenue targets and margin requirements.
  • Deal Architecture & Negotiation: Orchestrates the pursuit and closing of new MSAs, CDAs, and SOWs, leading the negotiation of commercial terms that secure long-term business viability.
  • Strategic Commercial Modeling: Develops and presents complex financial proposals, including innovative rebate structures and volume-based pricing, to win enterprise-level pharmaceutical and biotech accounts.

5. Pipeline Intelligence & Sales Administration

  • Growth-Driven Reporting: Defines and monitors KPIs related to market penetration, conversion rates, and pipeline velocity, delivering strategic insights to the VP Commercial.
  • Salesforce Mastery: Owns the integrity of their individual sales funnel within CRM, meticulously tracking the end-to-end sales cycle, key decision-maker contacts, and the progression of new business opportunities.
  • Market Analysis & Forecasting: Provides accurate revenue forecasting based on pipeline health, ensuring the business is prepared for the operational demands of new contract wins.
