GTC, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for a Business Development Director - East who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.

Purpose of this role

Accomplished and commercially driven leader to take ownership of business growth across the East & South East region, building upon BUUK's/GTC’s market-leading position within the UK housebuilding sector.

This is a high-profile leadership role responsible for developing and executing regional growth strategies, strengthening executive-level relationships with national and regional housebuilders, and leading a high-performing sales team to deliver sustainable, profitable growth across our multi-utility and infrastructure solutions portfolio.

As a key member of the GTC senior leadership team, you will shape regional strategy, influence business-wide initiatives, and secure major infrastructure opportunities that support the future growth of the organisation, whilst leading and managing the day-to-day activities of all Sales Managers within your region.

Your Key Responsibilities Are

  • Deliver sales performance in line with targets agreed with the Sales Director across East/South East regions.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a team of Sales Managers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Coach and mentor sales professionals to maximise individual capability and support succession planning across the business.
  • Take direct ownership of major project opportunities within the regional house builder market.
  • Ensure effective use of marketing to support the promotion of BUUK brands and sales activity.
  • Maintain clear visibility of key opportunities, challenges, competitor activity, and market trends through regular reporting and meetings.
  • Monitor team performance against targets and conduct regular 1:1 reviews with your sales team.
  • Attend key sales presentations to support, coach, and influence outcomes.
  • Lead and manage RSMs to maximise both individual and team performance.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to drive alignment and leverage cross-functional support.
  • Identify regional performance variations and implement best practice across all territories.
  • Continuously review and optimise the field sales structure and resourcing to ensure national effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Management or leadership qualification, or willing to work towards one.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Extensive experience leading and developing high-performing sales teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound decision-making capability.
  • Proven ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrable track record of success in B2B sales.

Abilities/Skills

  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop individuals in a competitive sales environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly skilled in commercial negotiation and deal closure.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.

Desirable

  • Degree or equivalent in business or technical related subject.
  • Utilities sales experience.
  • Experience of managing change.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, proficiency in Word, PowerPoint.
