Business Development Director

Central London | Hybrid (2 Days Office) | £65,000 - £80,000 DOE + Bonus + Uncapped OTE

Are you a commercially driven Business Development professional with a passion for creating exceptional live experiences?

We're partnering with one of London's most respected independent events agencies as they continue an exciting period of growth. Employee-owned and renowned for its collaborative culture, this is an agency that genuinely invests in its people, celebrates success and consistently delivers outstanding work for an impressive portfolio of B2B and B2C brands.

Their work spans the full spectrum of live events, from conferences, exhibitions and trade shows through to immersive experiential campaigns, product launches, brand activations and large-scale corporate events. Creativity, strategic thinking and flawless delivery are at the heart of everything they do.

As they continue to expand, they're looking for an experienced Business Development Director to lead new business activity, strengthen existing relationships and play a pivotal role in shaping the agency's future growth.

The Role

This is a genuine leadership opportunity where you'll take ownership of the agency's business development strategy, building relationships with prospective clients and identifying opportunities to drive sustainable growth across a broad range of sectors.

Working closely with senior leadership, creative and client services teams, you'll lead opportunities from initial conversation through to pitch, proposal and conversion, ensuring the agency continues to win exciting, high-value projects.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on opening doors, building lasting partnerships and spotting commercial opportunities within an ever-evolving events landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the agency's new business strategy, identifying opportunities to grow revenue across both new and existing clients.
  • Build meaningful relationships with senior decision-makers, procurement teams and marketing leaders across a variety of sectors.
  • Generate and qualify new business opportunities through networking, referrals, inbound enquiries and proactive outreach.
  • Lead chemistry meetings, capability presentations and pitch processes from initial brief through to successful conversion.
  • Collaborate with Creative, Production and Client Services teams to develop compelling, commercially focused proposals.
  • Identify opportunities to grow existing client relationships through strategic account development.
  • Monitor industry trends, market activity and competitor movements to identify emerging opportunities.
  • Maintain an active pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and regular reporting to the leadership team.
  • Represent the agency at industry events, networking opportunities and client functions, acting as a true ambassador for the business.

About You

You'll be an experienced Business Development Director, Growth Director or senior commercial leader with a proven track record of winning work within an events, experiential or integrated agency environment.

You'll understand the nuances of selling creative services and be confident engaging with senior stakeholders, building trust quickly and turning opportunities into long-term partnerships.

Most importantly, you'll combine commercial instinct with genuine relationship-building skills and a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences.

You'll ideally have:

  • A strong background within an events, experiential or integrated agency environment.
  • A proven history of winning and developing high-value client relationships.
  • Experience leading pitches and presenting confidently to senior decision-makers.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to identify commercial opportunities and convert them into sustainable growth.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance creativity with profitability.
  • Experience collaborating with creative, production and client services teams to deliver winning proposals.
  • A proactive, resilient and highly motivated approach to business development.
  • Corporate events experience would be advantageous, although not essential.
