Business Development Director

Sales & Marketing | Flexible location, based at one of our hotels or our Salford office | Reporting to the Group Sales & Marketing Director

The role

This is a chance to shape how an entire hotel portfolio wins business. As our Business Development Director, you'll set and lead Valor Hospitality's central business development strategy. You'll find new clients, agents and sectors, grow the accounts we already have, and turn market insight into revenue for our hotels.

Meetings & Events will be at the heart of your work, alongside Sports, Entertainment & Media, Project & Construction and the next growth sectors you spot.

You'll lead a team of two Key Account Managers and a Business Development Manager, giving them clear goals, coaching them to perform at their best, and keeping the pipeline strong, well-qualified and focused on the opportunities that matter most.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading Valor Hospitality's business development strategy and finding new ways to grow revenue and market share across the portfolio
  • Owning a portfolio of high-value clients, agents and partnerships, growing share of wallet and cross-selling across our hotels
  • Managing our commercial agent partnerships and building strong relationships with brand sales and commercial teams
  • Working hand in hand with hotel Sales, Revenue and Hotel General Managers teams to fill need periods and close commercial gaps
  • Building a business development culture in our hotels through training, best practice and practical support on lead referral and conversion
  • Delivering targeted sales campaigns and blitzes with the central Sales & Marketing team, and representing Valor Hospitality at trade shows, industry events and client presentations
  • Sharing market and competitor insight that helps our leaders make better commercial decisions
  • Keeping Salesforce accurate and meaningful, and reporting on revenue, pipeline, conversion and partnership performance

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
