Iron Mountain is seeking an ambitious Business Development Director – Central Government & Public Sector to join our Commercial team.

Role Overview

In this role, you’ll play a key part in driving revenue growth across UK Central Government departments, non-departmental public bodies, and Tier 1 prime contractors. You’ll have the opportunity to leverage major procurement frameworks and lead high-stakes sales cycles to deliver critical, secure solutions. Here, your commercial expertise will directly shape strategic partnerships and unlock new value for our public sector clients.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

In this role, you will:

  • Drive Account Strategy: Formulate and execute strategic pipeline development plans across UK Central Government departments, devolved administrations, and key prime contractors.
  • Lead Deal Execution: Own the end-to-end sales cycle, from opportunity identification and market engagement to capture management, tender submission, and contract award.
  • Build Key Relationships: Establish and maintain strategic relationships with senior stakeholders, Commercial Directors, Procurement Leads, and prime delivery partners.
  • Leverage Frameworks: Maximize value from key UK procurement routes, including Crown Commercial Service (CCS) frameworks such as G-Cloud and DOS agreements.
  • Direct Cross-Functional Bids: Collaborate with solution architects, bid managers, and legal teams to produce compliant, high-scoring tender responses.

What You’ll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Numerous years of successful business development or sales experience in the UK Central Government or wider public sector.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Public Contracts Regulations (PCR), government buying cycles, and public procurement policy.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding multi-million-pound (£) revenue targets within public sector technology, professional services, or defence domains.
  • Active UK Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance, or immediate eligibility for UK National Security Vetting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or equivalent commercial experience.
