Role Overview

The Business Development Director – General Contractors (GCs) will lead Johnson Controls' engagement strategy with major data centre construction firms across EMEA. This role is responsible for developing executive-level relationships, influencing project outcomes early in the planning and design phases, and creating a strong pipeline of opportunities across the Johnson Controls Data Centre Solutions portfolio.

Success in this position will come from combining market insight, business development expertise, and a deep understanding of how General Contractors influence project delivery across hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and AI data centre developments.

  • Build and maintain executive relationships with Data Centre Directors, Construction Directors, Procurement Leaders, Commercial Directors, Project Executives, and other key decision-makers within major contractor organizations.
  • Position Johnson Controls' data centre solutions portfolio, including cooling, controls, fire protection, security, building automation, digital services, and related infrastructure solutions during project planning, specification, procurement, and delivery phases.
  • Increase market penetration within priority General Contractor accounts and strategic construction partners across the region.
  • Develop visibility into upcoming projects, customer investment plans, market trends, competitor activity, procurement strategies, and construction pipelines.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, operations, solution development, and project delivery teams to create differentiated customer value propositions.
  • Support commercial negotiations, framework agreements, preferred supplier programs, and strategic partnership initiatives with target contractors.
  • Maintain an accurate opportunity pipeline, account plans, and sales forecasts using CRM and business planning tools.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Johnson Controls' share of wallet across customer portfolios, multi-site programs, and strategic accounts.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
