About NSC Global
NSC Global delivers global network implementation, IT infrastructure and support solutions to world-class organisations, helping customers simplify operations, reduce costs and transform their IT environments. As a Cisco Global Gold Certified Partner, we design, deploy, support and manage global IT communications and technology services for leading enterprises worldwide.
The Role
We are looking for an ambitious, commercially driven Business Development Director to accelerate NSC Global’s growth across the UK retail sector.
This is a new-business and new-logo focused role, responsible for identifying, developing and winning new direct retail customers across the UK. We are particularly interested in individuals with experience selling technology or IT services directly into retail organisations, with a strong understanding of the challenges associated with distributed, multi-site and customer-facing environments.
You will be responsible for opening new accounts, creating demand, developing senior relationships and converting opportunities into profitable, long-term customer partnerships.
The successful candidate will understand how technology underpins modern retail operations — from stores and branches through to corporate offices, distribution environments and wider supply chains — and will be able to identify opportunities where NSC can improve resilience, simplify operations, reduce cost and enhance service delivery.
This is a genuine hunter role. You will be expected to build your own target-account strategy, create opportunities through proactive business development and develop relationships from initial engagement through to commercial close.
NSC can support customers across a broad range of requirements, from targeted network and infrastructure projects through to complex, multi-year managed services, field services, professional services and global support engagements.
This is an opportunity to play a significant role in building NSC Global’s presence within the UK retail market and winning new strategic customers.
Responsibilities
- Drive new-logo acquisition and revenue growth across the UK retail sector.
- Identify, target and engage prospective retail customers, from established mid-market organisations through to large multi-site retailers.
- Develop and execute targeted account acquisition strategies for priority retail organisations.
- Build relationships with senior stakeholders including CIOs, CTOs, IT Directors, Infrastructure Directors, Heads of Networks, Procurement and Commercial leaders.
- Proactively generate new opportunities through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, industry events and existing relationships.
- Build and manage a strong new-business pipeline from initial prospecting through qualification, proposal, negotiation and close.
- Develop a deep understanding of each target customer's business, technology environment and operational challenges.
- Identify opportunities where NSC can improve service resilience, operational efficiency, cost, customer experience and technology performance.
- Position NSC's capabilities across network, infrastructure, field services, professional services, managed services and global support.
- Own the complete sales cycle and take accountability for converting opportunities into new customers.
- Develop land-and-expand strategies, using initial projects or services to establish broader and longer-term customer relationships.
- Lead commercial negotiations and develop proposals that deliver clear value for both the customer and NSC.
- Work closely with Solutions, Operations, Service Delivery and Executive Leadership to develop and close complex opportunities.
- Develop strong relationships across the wider retail technology ecosystem and identify opportunities for strategic partnerships and referrals.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the UK retail market, technology trends, competitive landscape and customer priorities.
- Own new-logo, revenue, margin and pipeline targets.
- Maintain accurate CRM activity, forecasting, opportunity management and reporting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
