Business Development Director

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Business Development Director to join our Securities Finance Sales and Relationship Management team. This role is located in London.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Evaluating and pursuing new business opportunities and client prospects, focusing on responsible business growth that is compliant, of acceptable risk and profitable.
  • Serving in a consultative role to prospects, advising stakeholders on the best way to achieve their short- and long- term strategic goals through the firm’s solutions.
  • Generating leads and creating a sustainable pipeline.
  • Pursuing strategic partnerships with third parties to better respond to prospects’ needs.
  • Locating potential prospects through in-depth industry research and an understanding of the market environment, including short- and long-term trends, competitor offerings and regulatory developments.
  • Screening and evaluating prospects by analysing market strategies, deal requirements, growth potential, financials and internal firm priorities.
  • Consulting with prospects on their strategic vision and applying an understanding of the firm’s solutions and value proposition to help them achieve that vision. Within standards and limits, developing a negotiation strategy and position to align prospect needs to firm offerings.
  • Closing new prospects by structuring deals, including pricing and contract terms, that achieve optimal terms for both the client and the firm within assigned parameters.
  • Ensuring deals and related activities are compliant with all regulations.
  • Following up with firm-wide resources, including marketing, legal and compliance, to gather needed information required to finalize a proposal or deal.
  • Working closely with related teams and other firm-wide resources to ensure all risk management and compliance activities relevant to business development activities are conducted and captured.
  • Tracking and reporting on business development results for the assigned area.
  • Providing guidance to less experienced Business Development roles as needed.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in Securities Finance sales, with strong coverage expertise in Agency Lending and a proven ability to originate and grow client relationships.
  • Strong background in Prime Brokerage and Synthetic Financing, with the ability to identify cross-product opportunities and deliver strategic client solutions.
  • Deep product knowledge across the Securities Finance landscape, including FICC Sponsored Repo, Bilateral, Triparty and Agency Lending structures and solutions.
  • Proven ability to work in close partnership with internal stakeholders across trading, product, risk, legal and client coverage teams to deliver coordinated client outcomes.
  • Strong commercial and market acumen, with the ability to articulate complex financing solutions clearly and position BNY’s Securities Finance capabilities effectively in the market.
