About Inspirational Group
For over 25 years, Inspirational Group (IG) has partnered with organizations worldwide to unlock leadership potential and create a better tomorrow. We believe inspirational leadership at every level drives growth, transformation, and lasting impact. At IG, we are committed to providing organizational performance insight through data, behavioural science and human and AI analysis; individual, team and leadership development and coaching; and change leadership. Our clients are cross-industry and international, and we work with all levels of participants from early careers to senior leaders.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an ambitious, proactive and driven Business Development Director to own our business development strategy and put the plans in place to execute it — building a high-conversion pipeline and a culture of proactive business generation across the business. A key part of that strategy is our growth in the public sector, where you will provide strategic direction and build our network and reputation with senior public sector stakeholders and decision-makers. This is a high-impact, senior leadership role, offered with a fixed base salary and performance-related bonus (full terms and conditions available separately).
What You'll Be Doing
- Own the overall business development strategy across all sectors and put in place the plans needed to execute it.
- Lead bid and proposal activity across the ID service lines.
- UK BD focus, but ability to explore opportunities internationally, especially the Middle East.
- Build new strategic client relationships across target sectors, including (but not limited to) Financial and Professional Services, Defence and Oil & Gas — including providing strategic direction for our growth in the public sector and building our network and reputation with senior stakeholders and decision-makers there.
- Coordinate cross-business sales opportunities across the IG Group.
- Maintain accurate pipeline and revenue forecasting.
- Coach and support Managing Consultants in sales and pitching.
- Oversee marketing and communication alignment to drive visibility and reputation.
- Ensure business development processes are efficient, repeatable, and insight led.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
