GA-AS UK is the UK subsidiary of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), a leading aerospace and defence provider, delivering critical capabilities such as the Protector RG Mk I (MQ-9B) to the UK and allied nations. With Protector in service with the Royal Air Force, GA-ASI is strengthening its presence in the UK to support long-term sustainment, upgrades, and strategic expansion into new mission areas.
Role Overview
Director, Strategic Development UK
The Director, Strategic Development UK, is a key position responsible for supporting the Vice President, Strategic Development, UK, in driving growth, stewarding key relationships, and leading strategic campaigns and business development (BD) across the UK, Ireland, and in support of NATO and the Nordic region.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development Leadership: Lead strategic campaigns and business development efforts across the UK, Ireland, NATO, and the Nordic region.
- Stakeholder Management & Engagement: Develop and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders across the UK defence enterprise, including StratCom, ISTAR Force, TAA, DE&S, MAA, and Parliament.
- Capture Leadership & Execution: Lead capture efforts across UK opportunities, including MQ-9B Protector, system upgrades, training, and broader platform adoption.

Strategic Continuity & Expansion
- Support and execute strategic initiatives for acquisition, sustainment, training, and ISR track-data correlation.
- Advance Protector's relevance through future upgrades (e.g. Link 16, JSR enhancements, maritime mission sets).
- Identify and advance new opportunities across UK defence, home security, and adjacent domains (Royal Navy, British Army, Special Forces, Home Office, MCA).
- Support campaign strategy development for Autonomous Collaborative Platforms (ACP) aligned with corporate objectives and evolving UK/NATO priorities.
- Provide business development support to Nordic region campaigns as required.
- Provide programme management support as required.
- Provide operational leadership to the UK BD organisation.
- Support the VP in BO team development, including mentoring team members.
- Act as deputy to the VP across internal governance structures.
- Lead day-to-day execution of BD activities and capture efforts.
- Represent GA-ASI and GA-AS UK at strategic forums, industry events, and customer working groups.
- Support the RAF's multinational advocacy for Protector within NATO and other partner nations.
- Engage with stakeholders in Ireland and support Nordic region engagement activities.
- Support Advanced Programmes capture activities for Autonomous Collaborative Platforms (ACP).
- Engage with UK industry partners to ensure alignment with growth objectives and secure competitive positioning.
- Shape proposals, presentations, and partnership strategies for emerging opportunities.

This role requires strategic vision, credibility, and the ability to operate effectively across the UK MOD, Intelligence Community, Armed Forces, Parliament, NATO, and UK industry.
