EngineRooms at Birchwood Park is looking for an ambitious Business Development & Events Executive to drive our commercial success and help position us as one of the North West’s leading destinations for meetings, conferences, and business experiences.
About The Role
In this dynamic, high-impact role, you will balance proactive business development with inspiring events leadership. You will be responsible for driving revenue, expanding our client base, and ensuring every enquiry is converted into an exceptional event.

Key Responsibilities
- Drive Business Growth: Develop and execute proactive sales strategies to secure new corporate accounts, training events, conferences, and private functions.
- Convert Enquiries & Upsell: Lead venue tours, craft bespoke client proposals, negotiate commercial packages, and actively upsell services to maximize revenue.
- Lead & Inspire: Coach and mentor a small, dedicated office team, fostering accountability, commercial focus, and a positive sales culture.
- Build Lasting Relationships: Turn one-off bookings into loyal, repeat customers through proactive account management and networking across key business sectors.
- Oversee Event Coordination: Ensure seamless transition from booking to delivery by overseeing accurate function sheets and collaborating closely with operational and marketing teams.
- Pipeline & Commercial Performance: Track sales KPIs, monitor booking trends, manage the sales pipeline, and provide accurate revenue forecasting.

What We Are Looking For
- Experience: A proven track record in business development, venue sales, meetings, or hospitality, with a history of hitting and exceeding sales targets.
- Sales Leadership: Prior experience leading, mentoring, or coaching a small team (or a strong desire to take that next step in your career).
- Relationship Builder: Outstanding communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with a knack for making genuine connections at all levels.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of sales pipelines, conversion rates, CRM systems, and booking software.
- Mindset: An energetic, commercially minded self-starter who takes ownership, loves winning new business, and champions exceptional customer experiences.
