Business Development Executive

Location: Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
Salary: £40,000 Basic + Commission
Type: Full time, office-based

On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Executive to join a growing healthcare technology business. This is an exciting opportunity for a sales-focused professional to play a key role in driving business growth, securing new clients, and developing long-term relationships within the healthcare sector. Based in Borehamwood, this role will focus on generating new business opportunities, managing inbound enquiries, and growing existing client accounts. The successful candidate will work closely with healthcare organisations, including GP practices and Primary Care Networks (PCNs), helping them improve patient access and operational efficiency through innovative technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and convert inbound enquiries from healthcare organisations.
  • Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities through cold outreach, networking, referrals, and lead generation.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
  • Conduct discovery calls, client meetings, and product demonstrations.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial engagement through to negotiation and close.
  • Build long-term relationships with decision-makers across healthcare organisations.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell services within existing accounts.
  • Prepare proposals, quotations, and commercial documentation.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and sales activity reports.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth client onboarding process.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities when required.
  • Achieve agreed sales and revenue targets.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within sales, business development, account management, or recruitment consultancy.
  • Proven track record of generating new business and achieving revenue targets.
  • Experience developing client relationships and managing commercial conversations.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to identify client needs and present effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive and target-driven approach.
  • Ability to commute regularly to the Borehamwood office.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with healthcare organisations, NHS providers, GP practices, or Primary Care Networks.
  • Healthcare recruitment experience, particularly with responsibility for business development and account acquisition.
  • Experience selling healthcare software, digital solutions, SaaS products, or technology services.
  • Experience growing existing accounts through upselling and cross-selling.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as HubSpot.
  • Understanding of NHS procurement processes and healthcare buying cycles.
