Business Development Executive

Reporting to: Director of Business Development

Ready to make an impact?

Are you naturally curious, commercially minded, and someone who loves turning a conversation into an opportunity?

We’re looking for a Business Development Executive to join our growing global BD team within a fast-paced life sciences consultancy. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys connecting with people, spotting opportunities, and being at the heart of how new client relationships begin.

You’ll be helping us identify and engage with life sciences companies across the UK and Europe, opening doors, starting conversations and creating opportunities for our expert technical teams.

No two days will be exactly the same. One day you could be researching a growing biotech, the next speaking to a senior industry leader, and the next working with our marketing or technical teams to turn a great opportunity into a new client relationship.

If you’re ambitious, confident, curious, and enjoy seeing the results of your hard work, we’d love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

🔎 Finding opportunities

You’ll be one of the people helping us discover what’s happening in the life sciences market and where the opportunities are.

You’ll:

  • Research and identify potential clients across small, medium and large life sciences organisations.
  • Proactively connect with prospects through phone, LinkedIn and email.
  • Keep an eye on industry developments — including M&A activity, divestments, redundancies, offshoring and business growth — and turn those insights into potential commercial opportunities.
  • Build and maintain targeted prospect lists and keep your finger on the pulse of the market.

☎️ Starting conversations

We’re big believers in the power of a good conversation.

You’ll carry out targeted outbound activity with the aim of generating qualified telephone consultations (TCs), meetings and opportunities for our senior technical colleagues.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

That means being confident picking up the phone, asking great questions, listening carefully and understanding where we might be able to help.

🤝 Helping turn opportunities into clients

Once a conversation gets going, you’ll help keep things moving.

You’ll support the sales journey from initial qualification through to follow-up, objection handling, negotiation and, ultimately, winning the work.

You’ll also take ownership of the commercial detail behind new engagements, helping to draft, coordinate and execute documents such as:

  • Statements of Work (SOWs)
  • Master Services Agreements (MSAs)
  • Change Orders

📊 Keeping things organised

Great BD is about relationships — but it’s also about keeping on top of the detail.

You’ll use Salesforce to make sure our pipeline and client information are accurate, up to date and useful to the wider team.

You’ll also use LinkedIn and industry databases to research prospects, understand competitors, spot trends and help us make smart commercial decisions.

And yes, there will be targets. We’re looking for someone who enjoys having something to aim for and takes pride in seeing their activity translate into real results.

💡 Working with our marketing team

BD and marketing work best when they work together.

You’ll collaborate with our marketing team to support campaigns, strengthen our market positioning and share the insights you’re hearing directly from prospective clients.

Your conversations could help shape future campaigns, thought leadership and content — so your voice and your market knowledge will genuinely matter.

What are we looking for?

You don’t need to tick every single box. What matters most is your attitude, curiosity and willingness to get stuck in.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is confident communicating with people at all levels of an organisation.
  • Enjoys proactive outreach and isn’t afraid to pick up the phone.
  • Can build rapport quickly and turn conversations into meaningful opportunities.
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Is organised, commercially aware and great at following things through.
  • Can manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the detail.
  • Enjoys working as part of a global, cross-functional team.
  • Is comfortable speaking with scientific, technical and commercial audiences.
  • Has a curious mind and genuinely wants to understand the life sciences industry.
  • Takes ownership, shows initiative and wants their work to make a difference.
  • Is motivated by achieving results — but understands that quality matters just as much as quantity.
  • Is confident, professional and naturally good with people.
  • Speaks fluent English. Spanish or German would be a bonus.

  • Life Sciences
  • Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Regulatory Affairs
  • Business Analytics
  • Business Management

Previous experience in a sales, business development or client-facing role would be desirable.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone with the drive to learn, the confidence to start conversations and the ambition to grow.

Why join us?

You’ll be joining a fast-growing global life sciences consultancy, working alongside smart, passionate people who are experts in what they do.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply sit on the sidelines and make calls. You’ll be part of the commercial engine of the business, building relationships, creating opportunities and helping connect clients with the expertise they need.

If you’re looking for a role where you can learn quickly, build your commercial career, meet interesting people and genuinely see the impact of your work, this could be the opportunity for you.
