We are sourcing a Business Development Executive on a full-time, permanent basis. Based at our facility in Westhill, Aberdeen, the Business Development Executive will support the Regional Business Development Manager by contributing to account management, opportunity development, and sales execution activities. It is structured as a development position, offering progressive exposure to Claxton's clients, service lines, and full sales lifecycle, with a defined pathway toward advancement into a Business Development Manager role.

Duties & Main Responsibilities

  • Assist senior sales team members with customer outreach, presentations, and follow-up activities.
  • Conduct basic market research to identify potential customers, projects, and opportunities.
  • Support the preparation of quotations, proposals, and tender documentation (RFQs/RFPs).
  • Maintain accurate CRM entries, sales reports, and pipeline updates.
  • Coordinate sales meetings, product demonstrations, and customer visits.
  • Manage incoming customer inquiries and route them to the appropriate technical/commercial contacts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support order processing and on-time delivery.
  • Support regional events, trade shows, and marketing campaigns.
  • Build foundational knowledge of oil & gas operations, products, and services offered by the company.
  • Conduct basic market, competitor, and client research to support pursuit plans.
  • Attend client meetings, site visits, and industry events alongside senior sales colleagues.
  • Build professional relationships with client representatives at operational and commercial levels.
  • Liaise with operations, engineering, commercial, and QHSE teams to support proposals and client requests.
  • Support internal sales meetings, forecast reviews, and pipeline discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with Claxton's Integrated Management System (IMS) and internal processes.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 0-2 years of experience in sales, customer service, or business development (oil & gas experience is a plus but not mandatory).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with willingness to learn technical products and markets.
  • Basic understanding of commercial processes (quotations, invoicing, proposals).
  • Competent using Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and develop.
  • Professional, credible, and client-focused.
  • Resilient and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • High ethical standards and alignment with Claxton's values.
