Love the challenge of opening doors and creating new business?

About the Role
As Business Development Executive, you’ll play a key role in generating new business opportunities across a defined portfolio of target accounts.
You’ll be responsible for finding opportunities, opening conversations and developing early-stage relationships before working with the wider sales team to progress those opportunities.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Researching target organisations and identifying the right decision-makers and influencers.
- Using telephone, LinkedIn and email to create meaningful conversations.
- Developing creative, relevant reasons for prospects to engage, rather than relying on generic scripts.
- Building relationships through thoughtful and persistent follow-up.
- Identifying and qualifying genuine sales opportunities.
- Securing high-quality meetings for the wider sales team.
- Following up leads generated through marketing, referrals, events and other channels.
- Keeping accurate and up-to-date information within HubSpot.
- Joining customer meetings, site visits and industry events when appropriate.
- Gradually taking greater ownership of opportunities as your confidence and capability grow.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
