Business Development Executive – Data & AI Consultancy

Location: Northern Ireland – Remote

Salary: £35,000–£40,000 base + £12,000–£15,000 OTE bonus
OTE: £47,000–£55,000
Experience: 2–3 years
Sector: Financial Services / Technology / Data & AI

The Opportunity

We are looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Executive to join a growing technology consultancy specialising in Data, AI, and technology services within Financial Services.

This is a remote position based in Northern Ireland and would suit someone with 2–3 years' experience in business development, lead generation, recruitment, or technology sales who enjoys speaking with people, opening doors, and creating new commercial opportunities.

You don't need to be an experienced Financial Services or AI salesperson. We're looking for someone who is naturally confident on the phone, commercially curious, and comfortable engaging with people at every level of an organisation – from technical specialists and hiring managers through to Heads of Data, CTOs, CIOs, and other senior executives.

Your primary objective will be simple:

  • Create high-quality sales opportunities for the senior sales team.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll identify target organisations and decision-makers across the Financial Services sector, primarily within Data, AI, and technology transformation. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Researching target Financial Services organisations and identifying potential opportunities.
  • Identifying and engaging relevant decision-makers across Data, AI, Technology, and Transformation.
  • Building targeted prospect lists and developing new accounts.
  • Making outbound calls and having meaningful conversations with prospective clients.
  • Using LinkedIn, email, telephone, and other channels to generate engagement.
  • Speaking confidently with prospects ranging from managers and technical specialists through to C-suite executives.
  • Understanding a prospect's challenges, initiatives, and investment priorities.
  • Qualifying potential opportunities before introducing them to the senior sales team.
  • Booking high-quality meetings and creating a consistent pipeline of new opportunities.
  • Following up prospects and developing relationships over time.
  • Keeping CRM information accurate and ensuring opportunities are properly tracked.
  • Working closely with senior salespeople to identify priority accounts and campaigns.
  • Developing an understanding of the Data & AI landscape and how organisations are investing in these technologies.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This isn't a role where you'll simply send hundreds of generic emails. We want someone who is prepared to pick up the phone, understand the person they're speaking with, and create genuine commercial conversations.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally have 2–3 years' experience in one or more of the following:

  • Business Development
  • Lead Generation
  • Sales Development / SDR
  • Technology Sales
  • Recruitment / Recruitment Consultancy
  • Technology Recruitment

A recruitment background can work particularly well for this position because you'll already understand prospecting, cold calling, relationship building, and speaking with senior stakeholders.

More important than your exact background is your ability to generate conversations and create opportunities.

You'll need to be:

  • Highly comfortable using the telephone as a core part of your role.
  • Confident speaking with people at all levels of seniority.
  • Naturally inquisitive and able to ask good questions.
  • Commercially minded and motivated by targets.
  • Resilient and comfortable working in an outbound environment.
  • Able to research organisations and identify the right people to approach.
  • Organised and disciplined when managing prospects and follow-ups.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Interested in technology and willing to develop your understanding of Data and AI.

Technology & Financial Services

Previous experience working within technology, technology recruitment, or Financial Services would be highly desirable.

You'll be working predominantly with Financial Services organisations around areas including:

  • Data
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Data Platforms
  • Analytics
  • Cloud
  • Technology Transformation
  • AI Adoption

You don't need to be technically hands-on, but you should be interested in technology and capable of developing enough knowledge to have credible conversations with senior technology and business leaders.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role isn't simply measured by the number of calls made. We care about quality conversations, qualified opportunities, and meetings that can develop into consulting engagements.

You'll be expected to build a consistent pipeline of prospective clients and become increasingly knowledgeable about the organisations, people, and technology programmes within your market.

As your experience grows, there will also be the opportunity to take greater ownership of accounts and develop your career further within business development and technology consulting sales.

Package

  • £35,000–£40,000 base salary
  • £12,000–£15,000 OTE bonus
  • £47,000–£55,000 total OTE
  • Remote working – Northern Ireland

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their sales career who wants to move into the rapidly growing Data & AI consultancy market, develop relationships with major Financial Services organisations, and build a long-term career in technology business development.
