Business Development Executive

About ALS and the opportunity

At ALS, we combine technical expertise with exceptional customer service to help clients make informed decisions and achieve better outcomes. We are seeking an ambitious, commercially focused Business Development Executive to build and grow client relationships across Europe.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated relationship-builder to develop new business, strengthen existing partnerships and identify opportunities across oil and lubricant manufacturing.

Working closely with our sales and technical teams, you will act as a trusted point of contact for clients, providing technical guidance, understanding their needs and connecting them with the right ALS solutions. This role will involve regular client engagement, technical visits, events, training and proactive business development activity.

About the position:

  • Location: Hawarden - Hybrid
  • Contract type: Full time, permanent
  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 37 hours, 08:30-17:00
  • Salary: Competitive

The day to day:

  • Identify, pursue and develop new business opportunities across target markets and industry sectors.
  • Manage and strengthen relationships with existing clients, identifying opportunities for account growth and improved service.
  • Make proactive contact with prospective and existing clients through meetings, calls, emails, events and technical visits.
  • Understand client requirements and provide clear guidance on testing, analysis, sample collection, results and reports.
  • Deliver basic-to-intermediate client training, both online and in person, as required.
  • Monitor active contracts, maintain accurate sales information and prepare weekly forecasts.
  • Attend trade shows, industry events, presentations and lectures to promote ALS and develop new contacts.
  • Work collaboratively with technical and sales colleagues to develop proposals, case studies, client materials and strategic opportunities.

Essential criteria

  • Completed secondary/high school education; a technical qualification in chemistry, mechanics or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Previous experience in business development, sales, account management, customer service or a technical client-facing role is desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to influence and persuade at all levels.
  • A proactive, energetic and commercially driven approach, with a strong focus on achieving results.
  • Demonstrable ability to build new relationships and develop strong, long-term client partnerships.
  • Strong planning, organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Analytical, curious and creative, with the ability to understand client challenges and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office; English is essential and Spanish language skills are desirable.
