Role: Business Development Executive

  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Location: Glasgow, Clydebank
  • Hours: 35 hours, Monday to Friday, 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home (please note, flexibility is required to go into the office more when required)
  • Salary: From £26,000- £28,000

Job Description

SGS Vitrology is looking for a talented and driven Business Development Executive to join our growing Life Sciences team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a scientific background who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and helping innovative biotech and pharmaceutical companies access world-class testing solutions.

Working closely with our Business Development Managers and scientific experts, you'll play a key role in transforming client enquiries into successful projects. You'll be at the centre of commercial and technical discussions, developing tailored quotations, coordinating with specialist laboratory teams, and supporting customers through the early stages of their testing journey.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients with their testing requirements
  • Preparing accurate technical quotations and proposals
  • Collaborating with experts across Virology, Molecular Biology and Electron Microscopy
  • Participating in client meetings and commercial discussions
  • Building strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Managing opportunities within Salesforce and supporting sales forecasting
  • Developing a deep understanding of biotechnology testing, regulatory requirements, and industry trends

Qualifications

About You

You'll have a degree in Biotechnology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Life Sciences or a related discipline, along with experience in a Life Sciences environment. Whether you've worked in scientific sales, internal sales, account management, business development, customer success, sales support, or another commercial role within the Life Sciences sector, we'd love to hear from you.

Knowledge of techniques such as qPCR, ELISA, TEM, cell-based assays, molecular biology, virology, or related laboratory testing would be highly beneficial.
