PED Business Development Executive (Internal)
Contract & Location: Full-time - Office Based 5 days per week, Walsall, West Midlands.
Purpose of the Role
The Business Development Executive is responsible for driving growth while supporting the commercial performance of the business. Working closely with the Managing Director and Area Sales Managers, the role focuses on finding new customers, developing new and existing relationships whilst promoting products and services. The Business Development Executive should also provide detailed sales analysis, forecasting, supplier performance, and identify opportunities to maximise sales, profitability, and long standing customer relationships.

Prime Electrical Distributors (PED) was established in November 2023, operating from its 40,000 square foot premises in Walsall, West Midlands. Already established as a key strategic partner to Electrical Wholesalers, PED continues to strive to become a market leading distributor of domestic, commercial, and industrial products. With a huge portfolio of leading brands and products, alongside its own in-house brand Devola specialising in the HVAC category. PED has become a first choice purchasing option for businesses due to competitive pricing, high inventory levels, and superb customer service and experience. Through production of its Product Price Guide, and customer focused sales strategies, early sales and strong growth year on year continue to be the on-going trend, making PED a desirable business for anyone with ambition and drive to be a part of.

- Through lead generation, find new sales leads via warm outbound calling, emails and social media methods.
- Keep close contact with existing customers to ensure high levels of satisfaction and retention, resulting in a consistent and growing level of spend.
- Monitor industry trends through market research with the interaction of suppliers and customers to track competitor actions and identify sales growth opportunities.
- Working closely with the Managing Director identify new brand and product opportunities to increase revenue, executing high initial and ongoing sales through strong marketing, promotions and other sales activities.
- Build and deliver e-mail campaigns, and report on resulting revenue and results.
- At all times display effective communication, data analysis and strong negotiation to increase sales and margin.
- Work closely with the External Sales team to deliver combined growth and customer satisfaction.
- Field incoming sales calls transferring them from enquiries to orders.
- Efficiently and accurately reply to customer enquiries and quotations via e-mail.
- Support the organisation of company events by interaction with suppliers, customers and colleagues.
- Through Social Media platforms, develop the awareness and reputation of the business.
Other Duties:
- Assist with the production of bi-annual company catalogue, reviewing product updates, pricing and advertising.
- Work in conjunction with the design team to ensure product literature, data sheets and point of sale material is maintained to a current and high level.
- Assist with the launch of new ranges and products.
- Working in conjunction with the purchasing team ensure the business inventory is kept to the relevant level in conjunction with sales demand, creating an efficient stock turn result.
- Monitor and reduce aged stock within the company through varied sales techniques.

Essential
- Previous experience in sales and business development.
- High levels of communication through both clear verbal and written skills.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Desirable
- Knowledge of customer onboarding methods and skills.
- Resilience and drive, handling rejection and meeting sales targets.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
- High levels of customer interaction through both reactive and pro-active methods.
- Onboarding of new accounts.
- New customer spend levels.
- Contact and regeneration of lapsed accounts.
- Additional stockists of own brand range of products.
- Turnover and margin of own brand products.
- Reduction in aged and obsolete stock.
The initial package would include:
- £34,000 basic salary.
- £3,000 potential bonus (based on KPI achievement).
- Pension Scheme.
- 22 days annual leave plus all bank holidays.
- Company events.
