The Team
The Global Business Development Leadership Team sets the firm’s strategy in consultation with the Global Strategy Board and Global Practice Executives.
Our Business Development teams comprise Communications, Marketing, Business Development, and Client Development specialists. They are led by regional Heads of Business Development aligned with our regional boards across:
- Asia Pacific
- Middle East and Africa
- North America
- United Kingdom
- Europe
Our strategy is to:
- Manage and develop key client relationships and strengthen our profile across global sectors.
- Adopt a content-led and product-led approach to taking our practice groups to market.
- Prioritise the use of integrated digital marketing channels.
- Position our most senior professionals as trusted advisers to the business, supported by expert execution teams.
- Ensure that the highest-value clients and opportunities receive appropriate Business Development attention and tailored support.
The Role
The Business Development Executive is a key member of the UK Business Development team and will be aligned with the Sectors team.
Working closely with Business Development Managers, Senior Managers, and relevant stakeholders, the successful candidate will support the execution and implementation of business development activities relating to client development and targeting across the relevant sectors.
The role reports to a Business Development Manager, with additional mentoring and coaching provided by other members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management and Targeting
- Support Business Development Managers and Sector Heads with client-targeting initiatives, including:
- Preparing research packs ahead of client meetings, including relevant client and market information.
- Analysing and reporting on client activity, including meetings, events, and pitches.
- Providing ad hoc support for revenue-generating initiatives.
- Supporting preparations for client-focused regional visits.
- Assisting with the production of data and financial reports.
Pitches and Proposals
- Work collaboratively with the wider Business Development team to support pitches and proposals, including:
- Reviewing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and ensuring final submissions meet the stated requirements.
- Sourcing and tailoring standard content, including firm information, professional profiles, and capability statements.
- Preparing briefing documents to ensure proposals are formatted in line with RFP requirements.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders to obtain relevant input and approvals.
- Supporting the coordination and delivery of high-quality submissions within agreed deadlines.

Event Management
- Work with the Business Development and Events teams to manage in-person and online client events from conception through to delivery, including:
- Managing event and invitation lists.
- Coordinating event collateral, including invitations, presentations, and marketing materials.
- Liaising with external suppliers to arrange event logistics.
- Project managing the delivery of client webinars.
- Attending in-person events and providing on-site support.
- Reporting on and analysing the return on investment of online and in-person events.
Marketing and CRM Systems
- Support the delivery of marketing campaigns and initiatives, including:
- Creating client mailings and managing their distribution.
- Coordinating the production of brochures and key marketing materials.
- Producing reports on CRM activity to support and measure Business Development and Marketing campaigns.
- Using analytics to monitor performance and report on activities, helping to maximise return on investment.
- Creating and maintaining content on the firm’s website.
- Supporting the production of podcasts and other digital content.
Legal Directories
- Contribute to the legal directory submission process, including:
- Collating and coordinating relevant content.
- Managing submissions and interview arrangements.
- Monitoring progress and reporting outcomes to the business.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders to gather supporting information.
Reporting, Analysis and Research
- Conduct client, market, competitor, and sector research.
- Prepare reports and analysis to support Business Development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure relevant data is captured within internal systems.
- Provide insights to help evaluate the effectiveness of Business Development and Marketing activities.
Essential Skills and Experience
Business Development Executives receive training and exposure across the core Business Development and Marketing disciplines. They will also have the opportunity to develop their understanding of the firm’s key sectors and build the skills required for future career progression.
A willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and the ability to apply sound judgement are highly valued.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be educated to degree level or possess equivalent relevant experience.
- Have at least one year’s experience in Business Development or Marketing within a professional services organisation.
- Be an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Be able to prioritise multiple tasks and projects, manage stakeholder expectations, and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as online research tools.
- Ideally have experience using legal-sector CRM systems, client mailing platforms, and webinar technology.
- Be able to develop effective working relationships across the Business Development team and wider business.
- Demonstrate a proactive, flexible, and collaborative approach to work.
