Driver Hire Yeovil & Shepton Mallet is looking for an experienced, confident and commercially focused Business Development Executive to help drive the continued growth of our business across Yeovil, Shepton Mallet and the wider BA postcode area.

This is a predominantly field-based business development role, with approximately 90% of your working week spent out meeting businesses, developing relationships and creating new opportunities.

You will spend the majority of your time visiting prospective and existing clients throughout the territory, speaking directly with business owners, transport managers, operations managers and other key decision-makers.

The remaining time will be spent working from the office, developing your pipeline, following up opportunities, liaising with the recruitment team and ensuring new business opportunities are converted into successful client relationships.

Previous experience within the recruitment industry is essential for this position.

We are looking for somebody who already understands recruitment, knows how to identify staffing opportunities and can confidently discuss recruitment solutions with prospective clients.

This is not a purely desk-based sales position. You need to enjoy being out in the field, meeting businesses face-to-face, opening doors, asking the right questions and building genuine long-term commercial relationships.

The Role

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Supporting the continued growth and development of Driver Hire Yeovil & Shepton Mallet
  • Winning new clients throughout Yeovil, Shepton Mallet and the wider BA postcode territory
  • Spending approximately 90% of your working time out in the field meeting prospective and existing clients
  • Planning and managing your own weekly client visit schedule
  • Identifying businesses that use temporary, permanent or contract recruitment services
  • Generating new business opportunities through face-to-face meetings, local canvassing, telephone calls, email and social media
  • Visiting prospective clients to introduce Driver Hire and understand their current and future recruitment requirements
  • Building relationships with business owners, transport managers, operations managers and other key decision-makers
  • Identifying, qualifying and developing new business leads
  • Creating, managing and progressing your own sales pipeline
  • Understanding clients’ recruitment challenges and identifying where Driver Hire can provide an effective solution
  • Presenting Driver Hire’s recruitment services professionally and consultatively
  • Following up prospective clients consistently and maintaining regular communication
  • Identifying opportunities for temporary, ongoing, temp-to-perm and permanent recruitment
  • Working closely with the recruitment team to ensure new opportunities are converted into successful placements
  • Developing existing accounts and identifying opportunities to increase business
  • Maintaining accurate records of client meetings, conversations, leads, follow-ups and opportunities
  • Monitoring activity across your territory and identifying new areas for commercial growth
  • Representing Driver Hire professionally throughout the BA postcode area
  • Helping grow an ambitious, locally owned recruitment business

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
