International Sales has an opening for a Business Development Executive I Specialty to be based either in our Paris office, Frankfurt office or London office.
The Business Development Executive I Specialty (BDE I Specialty), is a developmental sales role, focused on building skills and experience needed to become a successful Business Development Executive. The role develops core sales practices, market and industry knowledge, broker relationships, and understanding of the FM product, value proposition, and internal processes while also being expected to produce through guided prospecting and client development activity. Learning progress, preparation quality, activity completion, production contribution, and readiness for increased sales responsibility are key expectations of the role.
To support the continued business growth of our Specialty Industries in EMEA, we seek a highly motivated and driven individual to be part of the New Business Development team. Reporting to our Staff VP, Global Sales, EMEA and APAC. This individual will be responsible for growing the Specialty Industries book including Chemical, Renewables and Forest Products business.

Responsibilities Include
- New business contribution: Contribute to new business objectives through guided prospecting, outreach, follow-up, and coordination of required sales activities through completion.
- Support prospect strategy and planning: Research prospects, prepare call plans, support outreach, and contribute to sales strategy discussions while learning and practicing how opportunities are qualified, positioned, and advanced.
- Proposal exposure and support: Support proposal preparation and related prospect materials while learning how client needs, value proposition, risk improvement actions, and solution positioning are reflected in the sales process.
- Pipeline exposure and activity management: Maintain prospect information, track sales activity and follow-up, and help move early-stage opportunities through the sales funnel while working with sales leadership, underwriting, engineering, and client service partners.
- Develop technical and commercial knowledge: Proactively address knowledge gaps related to FM's products, value proposition, underwriting, engineering, and internal sales processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and/or related experience; CPCU or ACII qualification, or an advanced degree in business, marketing, or engineering, is desirable, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of two years of insurance industry experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as consultant engineering, client service, underwriting, sales support, or a related area.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear follow-up, meeting notes, and prospect materials.
- Learning agility and curiosity to build knowledge of commercial property insurance, HPR engineering, broker relationships, and the sales process.
- Foundational relationship-building skills with prospects, brokers, clients, and internal partners.
- Ability to stay organized, manage follow-up, maintain accurate prospect information, and support pipeline activity.
- Developing consultative sales, prospecting, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office, Copilot/AI-enabled tools, internet research, and internal resources to support sales preparation, prospecting, and continuous learning.
- Fluent in English and at least one other European language depending on location (French or German); other additional European languages are a plus.
- Ability to travel up to 50% within the sales territory in Europe, and elsewhere, as needed.
