Love winning new business, but want to do more than follow a sales script?
Interested in technology, startups, AI and how growing businesses make better hiring decisions?
Want a Business Development Executive role that could develop into commercial strategy, partnerships and go-to-market?
We're looking for a commercially curious Business Development Executive to join us and help grow our expanding group of recruitment, staffing and technology businesses. This isn't simply about making as many calls as possible.
You'll have conversations with founders, CEOs, CTOs, People leaders and hiring teams, uncover what they're trying to achieve and identify where our different services and solutions could genuinely help. Initially, you'll focus on several of our established recruitment and staffing propositions. As you develop, you'll also have the opportunity to work with newer products, test ideas with the market and help shape how we take them to customers.
Why This Role is Great
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Build your own commercial pipeline, developing new relationships while reconnecting with previous and existing clients.
- Speak directly with senior decision-makers, learning how founders and business leaders think about growth, people and hiring.
- Develop consultative selling skills by understanding a client's challenges before identifying the most relevant solution.
- Work across multiple propositions, giving you far more to talk about than one traditional recruitment service.
- Use CRM, AI and automation tools to improve targeting, prospecting and commercial conversations.
- Turn existing interest into opportunities through leads generated from our databases, websites, events and communities.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities and introduce clients to other services where they could add value.
- Get out into the market, attending relevant technology, startup and business events.
- Work closely with our recruitment delivery teams once you've won an opportunity, helping turn new relationships into successful partnerships.
- Influence what we build and sell, feeding back what customers really think about our products, services, pricing and messaging.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

As your experience grows, you'll have the opportunity to become more involved in commercial strategy, product go-to-market, partnerships, campaigns, new launches and major client relationships.
What Does Success Look Like?
We're not interested in measuring success purely by how many calls you can make. We want you to create good commercial conversations and turn them into opportunities.
You'll build your track record across areas such as:
- Meaningful conversations with prospective clients
- Meetings and qualified opportunities
- New client relationships and vacancies
- Re-engaging dormant clients
- Cross-selling opportunities
- Pipeline creation
- Revenue generation
- Valuable market and product feedback
You'll have the chance to develop both your sales performance and your wider commercial judgement.
About You
You might already work in business development, recruitment, sales, account development or another B2B commercial environment. Previous recruitment or B2B sales experience would be useful, but we're much more interested in your attitude, curiosity and commercial drive.
Our wishlist is someone who:
- Genuinely enjoys business development and winning new opportunities
- Is confident starting conversations with new people
- Asks thoughtful questions and actually listens to the answers
- Has plenty of commercial curiosity
- Enjoys learning about technology and growing businesses
- Can stay organised with pipelines, follow-ups and opportunities
- Is motivated by targets without wanting to work from a rigid script
- Is interested in using AI, automation and modern sales technology
- Likes contributing ideas rather than simply being told what to do
- Wants to become more strategically involved as their career develops
