Business Development Executive – B2B Sales
Leicester - Hybrid after probation
Permanent, full-time
Are you an experienced B2B salesperson who enjoys finding new business rather than waiting for leads to come to you?
We're working with a growing specialist business looking for a Business Development Executive to join its commercial team.
This is not a high-volume telesales or call-centre role.
You'll be researching target businesses, identifying the right decision-makers, starting conversations and developing potentially significant long-term customer relationships.
What you'll be doing:
- Researching target companies and identifying potential opportunities
- Mapping decision-makers across Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement and Commercial teams
- Using telephone, email and LinkedIn to engage prospects
- Having meaningful commercial conversations and understanding customer requirements
- Qualifying opportunities and identifying their potential value
- Working alongside the wider commercial team to develop opportunities
- Managing your activity and pipeline through CRM
- Following opportunities through longer sales cycles
- Progressing towards taking ownership of smaller opportunities and ultimately a broader BDM role

We're looking for someone who has:
- 2 - 6 years' genuine outbound B2B business development / sales experience
- Experience proactively generating new business
- Confidence speaking with business decision-makers
- Experience researching accounts and identifying relevant stakeholders
- A consultative approach to qualification and discovery
- Strong CRM and pipeline management experience
- The resilience to develop opportunities over time rather than expecting an immediate sale
- A genuine ambition to progress within business development
- The ability to commute reliably to Thurmaston, Leicester

Experience in logistics isn't essential. We'd also consider strong B2B salespeople from technology, SaaS, telecoms, facilities management, recruitment, professional services, engineering services and other B2B environments.
