Job title: BDE - On Trade
Reports to: Head of Sales (The North)
Location: Home based, covering the West Midlands to Bristol, including Worcestershire, Cheltenham, Gloucester and the M5 corridor, with regular field travel.
About Jatt Life and the role
Est in 2020, Jatt Life is a premium spirits brand offering original and flavoured vodkas, Scotch whisky and Gin. Following significant success in USA, Canada, India and Thailand we are now ready to extend into the UK market and strengthen our heartland of the Midlands by bringing on a BDE for the West Midlands and M5 corridor.
The successful candidate will grow on-trade distribution and profitable sales across the territory by winning new accounts, developing existing customers and working with wholesalers to turn new listings into regular orders.
Key responsibilities
- Build a territory plan covering Birmingham and the Black Country through Worcestershire and Gloucestershire to Bristol. Prioritise suitable venues and group visits to use travel time effectively.
- Prospect pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels and hospitality groups. Identify decision-makers and maintain a qualified pipeline through planned visits, calls, referrals and trade contacts.
- Present the range through tastings and product demonstrations, explaining suitable serves and the commercial opportunity. Secure listings, initial orders, back-bar visibility and menu inclusion.
- Negotiate pricing, promotions and trading terms within approved guidelines, protect account profitability and obtain approval for additional discounts or investment.
- Manage existing accounts through regular contact, review ordering patterns and rate of sale, support repeat orders and identify opportunities for additional products or sites.
- Work with drinks wholesalers, depot teams and sales representatives to confirm supply routes, stock availability and customer orders, and support joint visits and agreed promotions.
- Train venue teams on the products and recommended serves. Coordinate approved launches, tastings and marketing materials, and assess their effect on sales and repeat orders.
- Coordinate customer onboarding and resolve order, stock or delivery issues with the relevant teams, keeping customers informed through to resolution.
- Deliver agreed sales volume, revenue and distribution targets. Prepare realistic forecasts and manage samples, promotional stock and trade investment within approved budgets.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and report sales, pipeline progress, forecasts, customer feedback, competitor activity and barriers to growth to the Head of Sales.

Person specification
- Proven sales experience in the on-trade food and beverage sector, with evidence of winning new business and developing customer accounts.
- A strong network within hospitality and licensed venues, with an understanding of how operators buy drinks and assess new product listings.
- Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills, with the commercial awareness to discuss pricing, margins and the value of promotional support.
- A self-motivated, organised and resilient approach, with the ability to manage a territory independently and maintain consistent prospecting, follow-up and customer service.
- Confidence using CRM systems, spreadsheets and sales information to manage a pipeline, produce forecasts and track performance.
- A full UK driving licence with a clean or nearly clean driving record. Able to travel throughout the territory and attend agreed evening visits, launches and trade events.
- Desirable: Experience selling spirits or premium drinks, working with wholesalers or hospitality groups, and delivering venue training, tastings or product launches.

Performance will be assessed against agreed targets for new active accounts and listings, sales volume and revenue, profitability and promotional spend, repeat orders and account retention, productive customer coverage, pipeline progress and forecast accuracy.
