The team

The role

We have a new opportunity for a Business Development Executive to join our ITV Commercial team in Leeds, with some travel across Yorkshire and the Midlands, and managing across the central & Yorkshire team.

As Business Development Executive, you’ll be a key support function to the Business Development team as we strive to deliver competitive advantage and commercial revenue growth for ITV.

You will have a creative and commercial approach to this role, combined with excellent product and operational knowledge is crucial. This will deliver the “More Than TV” message, and competitive advantage that are at the foundation of a more collaborative working relationship to benefit agency and client.

The responsibilities below are consistent across each office:

  • Providing assistance and support to the Business Development Managers
  • Maintaining revenue records, summaries and forecasts managing team admin
  • Ensuring internal staff have relevant booking details for confirmed deals
  • Compiling reports and presentations for agency meetings
  • Representing and selling all of ITV’s commercial assets will be key across airtime and multiplatform, so a rounded knowledge of media and product is crucial
  • Ultimately to drive customer collaboration via a consistency of approach and innovation to positively shift perceptions of ITV Commercial
  • Helping to manage reputation for innovation, pro-activity and ideas among agencies and advertisers
  • Supporting the Business Development Manager to develop strong working relationships with key influencers in media agencies (senior management, planners, data, digital, buyers), creative agencies and priority clients within a portfolio to create opportunities for incremental revenue
  • Building ITV profile with Agency Planners, Client Category and Marketing Directors to broaden ITV customer base beyond traditional buyers
  • Developing and/or strengthen relationships with existing, new or lapsed clients to improve targeting of ITV brands and product offering
  • Promoting ITV as media partner of choice for non-traditional, cross-media advertising campaigns
  • Demonstrate ways to both internally and externally deliver our More Than TV behaviours to drive digital revenues
  • Work with the Business Development Team to maximise all revenue streams, accelerating VOD and getting the market excited about and embracing ITVx.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • Proven sales experience, including client service experience, negotiation, airtime management and delivering revenue targets
  • Knowledge of TV advertising market is essential
  • Communications skills, the ability to liaise and collaborate with colleagues and agencies is essential
  • Strong organisation and administration skills

Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)

  • Proactive and positive attitude; sound time management skills / ability to prioritise
  • Preferable to have some experience of airtime negotiations and hence how to use sales / marketing data to support an ‘argument’
  • Knowledge of TV/VOD advertising market essential
  • Presentation skills would be advantageous
  • Good knowledge of agencies, clients and business within the portfolio
  • Proven ability to build commercial relationships with key influencers from across media agencies (senior management, planners, data, digital, broadcast)
  • Good understanding of the media marketplace, with focus on TV and online
  • Highly creative and innovative approach to business
  • Confidence to challenge the ‘norm’, not be risk averse and enjoy breaking new ground
  • Commercial awareness in delivering revenue and share of broadcast targets.
