About the Role

This is an entry-level role for someone starting their career in business development. You will work towards an individual new business target and support the growth of a set of allocated accounts, with training and coaching from senior members of the team.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Support growth across our core markets by contributing to net new logo wins and new contract wins.
  • Assist with new business development and account management for your allocated accounts.
  • Work directly with the marketing team to make sure inbound leads are handled quickly.
  • Log all sales activity, including pipeline generation, in Salesforce, and learn to qualify leads using the BANT methodology.
  • Build relationships with our editorial team to develop your market knowledge.
  • Provide weekly reporting to the Director of Business Development.
  • Work with our events team to help identify new business opportunities.
  • Work towards your quarterly new business target, with support from your manager.
  • Learn and track new business KPIs, including opening rates, weekly demos, trial usage, lead conversion rates, and MQL and SQL nurturing.
  • Start building relationships within the structured products community, working towards becoming a trusted advisor over time.
  • Attend awards and industry conferences to build your network and support your new business pipeline.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Strong communication skills, with a willingness to learn how to handle objections.
  • Curiosity to understand and interpret customer insight.
  • Motivated to work towards and exceed targets, with full training and support provided.
  • Highly organized and able to stay calm under pressure.
  • An interest in capital markets and what drives our customers' decisions; no prior market experience is required.
  • Able to meet deadlines, pick things up quickly, and manage multiple priorities.
  • A great listener and a willing learner.
  • High integrity and close attention to accuracy.
  • Ambitious, with a genuine drive to build a career in sales and business development.

Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • No prior sales experience is required. Any exposure to B2B media, financial data, or market intelligence is a plus.
  • This role is open to recent graduates and to candidates early in their sales career.
