The Innovation department has a dedicated Business Development and Growth function that works in close partnership with lawyers and specialists across the practice groups, helping to support the continued growth and success of one of the firm's most dynamic and strategically important areas.
The Role
The Growth Executive is a central member of the Innovation Department's Business Development function, responsible for project managing the delivery of events, sponsorships, and other key client acquisition activities, whilst supporting other key growth efforts in digital campaigns and sales as required. You will provide vital support to the Senior Business Development & Growth Executive and Strategy & Growth Manager to achieve new client acquisition objectives across the varied Innovation Department disciplines.
The role holder will operate effectively as part of a team, working closely with practice groups and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful activations (events, sponsorships and other client acquisition activities) that support targeted client acquisition and measurable sales pipelines, as well as supporting efforts to retain and grow existing relationships. Supporting the Senior Business Development & Growth Executive and Strategy & Growth Manager, you will own the delivery of key activations that they identify, building strong stakeholder confidence in your ability to project manage and deliver these end-to-end, tracking and illustrating outcomes.
You will be required to be resilient, confident, and comfortable in your dealings with multiple priorities, with a focus on building successful and productive working relationships and flexing your style as required. Effective communication and team-working, energy, with great visibility and a can-do attitude will be the key to success in this role.
You will report regularly to and support the Senior Business Development & Growth Executive, who has responsibility for the successful delivery of growth orientated activities, and your line manager will be the Strategy & Growth Manager overseeing the Department's new client acquisition efforts.
Duties And Responsibilities
Events Management
- Enable the end-to-end delivery of the Innovation Department's events calendar, including internally hosted, sponsored, or intermediary-led events, reporting regularly on progress, identify risks/blockers, and updating all engaged stakeholders.
- Manage all logistical aspects of events from initial concept through to post-event follow-up, establishing processes to ensure all aspects are flawlessly delivered and bring creative thinking to how acquisition outcomes can be achieved.
- Being physically present across key hosted and sponsored events, handling issues and smooth delivery, supporting our central Events team.
- Collaborate with the BD content team to ensure events are supported by relevant thought leadership materials and post-event content.
- Support the tracking of event ROI and client engagement metrics, feeding insight back into campaigns and strategy planning of the Senior Business Development & Growth Executive and Strategy & Growth Manager.

Sponsorship Management
- Drive outcomes from sponsorships with key industry partners such as startup/scaleup incubators, industry bodies, sector influencers and government agencies, coordinating the Departments' approach to enabling these parties to generate new prospect leads.
- Develop initiatives and tactics that facilitate better collaboration with sponsors, maintaining department awareness of ways to engage and realize potential acquisition opportunities.
- Launch systematic approaches to ensure sponsorship engagement, delivery and tracking of outcomes can be done at scale with limited support required.
Conferences, Client Entertainment and Travel Outcome Tracking
- Establish processes that enable conference attendance, client entertaining (such as round tables and dinners) and business development travel to be delivered with limited involvement of the Business Development function, whilst ensuring outcomes are captured and progressed, and future decisions on expenditures can be informed by this.
- Take initial ownership of these activities to deeply understand how value can be created, and client acquisition and retention opportunities can be realized.
- Work with internal support stakeholders to embed processes and measure success, ensuring future delivery and tracking of outcomes can be done on a scale with limited support required.
Support Business Development Priorities
- Working with colleagues to support the analysis and development of digital campaigns to engage and acquire potential target clients.
- Spot opportunities and develop ideas for other initiatives that might drive client acquisition.
- Support with managing campaign budgets, track performance against KPIs, and produce post-campaign evaluation reports with actionable recommendations.
- Support with the maintenance and development of the firm's CRM and Digital Marketing tools, ensuring accurate pipeline data and opportunity tracking.
- Aid in the production of regular pipeline and sales reporting for BD leadership and the wider partnership.
- Provide additional support as required to members of the team handling content development, pitches, directory submissions and client retention efforts as required, working with relevant stakeholders to ensure outputs are accurate, tailored and commercially focused.
Skills/Experience
- One to two years' experience in delivering events, partnerships, sponsorships, sales and/or other activities that enable measurable brand visibility, growth and prospective client acquisition outcomes.
- Experience developing processes and systems that allow for effective project management and outcome tracking from activities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to use or quickly learn CRM and content-management systems, with experience of HubSpot, InterAction or other CRM and sales management tools highly desirable.
- Strong team collaboration and able to evidence ownership of projects end-to-end, driving measurable outcomes.
- Familiarity with the legal market, venture capital, and the innovation and technology sector is desirable.

Key Attributes/Competencies
- Demonstrable experience and interest in driving commercial outcomes on customer/client acquisition, and ability to link BD activity to measurable business outcomes.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously across a busy calendar, reporting to and able to prioritise across multiple stakeholders.
- Creative thinking and willingness to challenge existing thinking where you believe greater opportunities for client acquisition could be realised.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in building relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders and suppliers.
- Proficient in CRM systems, marketing automation platforms and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent attention to detail and writing skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
