About Blackmont Consulting

Blackmont Consulting is an advisory firm providing pro bono consulting services to startups, NGOs, and non-profits worldwide.

We are an advisory firm, not a full-service execution provider. We may get hands-on with part of a client's process to test or improve an approach, but we don't typically run a client's operations end-to-end on their behalf.

About the Role

We are looking for a Business Development Intern to join our team in a hands-on, performance-driven role.

This is not a passive or observational internship. From the beginning, you will take ownership of your own business development pipeline — from researching potential clients and conducting outreach to following up, developing tailored proposals, and coordinating with your manager through to signed agreements.

You will gain real client-facing experience by working with actual organizations rather than mock exercises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify potential clients aligned with Blackmont Consulting's advisory services.
  • Build and manage your own prospect pipeline.
  • Conduct outreach through appropriate channels, including cold outreach.
  • Follow up consistently with prospective clients and manage the communication process.
  • Develop tailored proposals based on prospective clients' needs.
  • Participate in real client conversations and navigate objections professionally.
  • Coordinate with your manager throughout the business development process.
  • Keep your pipeline and activities organized and up to date.
  • Attend onboarding and weekly team meetings.
  • Provide regular updates and reporting to your manager.
  • Work toward closing at least one client project per month once established in the role. Your first client project may reasonably take 5–7 weeks.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Self-driven and resilient — able to take ownership of a pipeline and stay motivated despite rejection.
  • A strong communicator — organized, detail-oriented, and clear in written and verbal outreach.
  • Persistent and process-disciplined — consistent with follow-ups and able to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Curious and collaborative — genuinely interested in learning and contributing to the team.
  • Independent and outreach-ready — comfortable initiating conversations with potential clients.
  • Professional, reliable, and willing to take responsibility for results.

Previous sales or business development experience is a plus, but not a requirement.

What We Offer

  • Real client-facing experience with actual organizations, not mock exercises.
  • Hands-on experience from day one, including real client conversations and objections.
  • Direct mentorship and ongoing feedback from your manager.
  • Weekly team meetings and shared learning with the wider team.
  • A strong professional network with fellow interns, managers, and consultants.
  • Strong CV value through practical consulting and business development experience.
  • Potential progression to Business Development Manager for strong performers.
  • Potential recommendation letter for interns who demonstrate strong performance.

Important Information

This is a voluntary, unpaid internship designed for students and recent graduates seeking hands-on business development and consulting experience in a global, remote organization.

The role involves genuine outreach, client conversations, follow-ups, and performance expectations. It is therefore best suited to candidates who are comfortable taking initiative, dealing with rejection, and working independently.

If you are looking for a role where you can build practical commercial skills, work with real organizations, and take ownership of your own business development pipeline, we would be happy to hear from you.
