Blackmont Consulting – Oxford Branch is a remote-first, student-led consultancy grounded in the academic spirit of Oxford while operating fully online to promote access, inclusivity, and global reach. The branch brings together high-achieving students from diverse disciplines to deliver pro bono consulting support to nonprofits, social enterprises, and early-stage ventures that may not have access to traditional advisory services. Teams use evidence-based research, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving to address real-world challenges and provide high-impact recommendations. This model enables student consultants to gain practical experience while contributing to meaningful, mission-driven work. Uniting participants and organizations across borders, Blackmont Oxford focuses on turning academic insight into purposeful impact and empowering communities worldwide.
Role Description
The Business Development Intern is a full-time, remote role focused on supporting the growth and outreach efforts of Blackmont Consulting’s Oxford Branch. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Conducting market research to identify potential partner organizations
- Assisting with lead generation campaigns
- Nurturing relationships through professional communication and follow-up
- Helping prepare outreach materials, presentations, and proposals
- Supporting virtual meetings with prospective clients and collaborators
- Maintaining accurate records in CRM or tracking systems
- Coordinating with consulting teams to understand service offerings
- Contributing ideas to improve business development strategies

This role offers hands-on experience in building partnerships for mission-driven consulting projects while working collaboratively with a diverse, international team.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data, assess opportunities, and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, for outreach, follow-up, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead generation skills, including identifying prospects, researching organizations, and supporting pipeline development activities.
- Market research skills to evaluate sectors, map ecosystems, and understand the needs of nonprofits, social enterprises, and early-stage ventures.
- Customer service skills, demonstrating responsiveness, empathy, and a solutions-oriented mindset in interactions with partners and clients.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include strong organizational and time-management abilities, comfort working in a remote and digital environment, and proficiency with office and collaboration tools (e.g., spreadsheets, presentation software, video conferencing platforms).
- A demonstrated interest in consulting, social impact, or mission-driven organizations, as well as enrollment in or completion of a degree program in business, economics, social sciences, or a related field, will be considered an advantage.
