Our partner, a fast-growing and innovative software company, is at the forefront of Flight Safety and GPS-free Navigation Systems. They are revolutionising critical sectors such as Aerospace, Defence, and Urban Air Mobility with cutting-edge technology. With a dynamic team of around 30 professionals, they operate from key UK innovation hubs. This presents a rare opportunity to join an expanding, high-tech team making significant strides within the defence industry, committed to developing solutions that define the future of air navigation and safety. They are now seeking a highly strategic Business Development Lead to join their team in Westcott Venture Park.

About the Role

This senior role is ideal for an experienced and ambitious commercial leader who thrives on building and scaling high-value relationships within the aerospace, defence, or deep-tech sectors. You will act as a consultative partner, designing bespoke technical solutions and shaping the strategic direction of innovative product pipelines. This position offers the chance to take ownership of existing enterprise client relationships, drive commercial expansion, and play a pivotal role in defining and executing sales strategies alongside the executive team, making a significant impact on the company's growth trajectory and market presence.

Responsibilities

  • Drive commercial expansion by nurturing and scaling relationships with key enterprise accounts.
  • Lead and win complex R&D bid proposals, securing new growth opportunities.
  • Act as a consultative partner, designing and presenting bespoke technical solutions to clients.
  • Take ownership of existing high-value client relationships, ensuring continued satisfaction and growth.
  • Work closely with the executive team to define and execute strategic sales initiatives.
  • Translate highly technical concepts into persuasive and engaging commercial propositions.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of innovative product and service pipelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years in a senior business development or strategic account management role.
  • Proven track record of managing and expanding relationships with large enterprise clients.
  • Demonstrated experience in conceptualising bespoke technical solutions.
  • Extensive experience leading and winning complex R&D bid proposals.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, articulating technical concepts effectively.
  • Comfortable working within the defence industry and eligible for UK SC clearance.
  • Background in aerospace, defence, or deep-tech sectors preferred.
