Job Title: Business Development Lead
Location: Kimbolton, Cambridgeshire (Onsite)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE + Performance-Related Bonus
Office Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30am - 5:00pm

If this sounds like you, a leading supplier of packaging products and industrial consumables is looking for a Business Development Lead to join its growing commercial team.
About The Company
This well-established, family-owned business has built an excellent reputation over the past 20 years, supplying packaging solutions, machinery, PPE, and consumable products to customers across logistics, warehousing, retail, e-commerce, and distribution sectors. With a £10m turnover, a loyal customer base, and ambitious plans to double revenue over the next five years, this is an exciting time to join a business investing heavily in its people, systems, and future growth.
What's the role about?
As Business Development Lead, you'll be responsible for driving profitable new business growth while helping to shape the future direction of the company's developing BD function.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver agreed new business revenue and gross profit targets
- Develop targeted sector plans, identifying high-potential customers and markets
- Generate opportunities through proactive outreach, networking, referrals, and lead follow-up
- Manage sales opportunities from initial contact through to onboarding
- Coach and support colleagues on prospecting activity, opportunity management, and conversion
- Maintain accurate CRM records and sales forecasts using HubSpot and business systems, leveraging sales data and AI tools to increase efficiency and drive results
- Collaborate with sales, marketing & operations to maximise campaign-generated opportunities and customer insights
- Build relationships with purchasing, operations, and commercial decision-makers
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, customer acquisition strategies, and data quality
Requirements
About You
You'll ideally bring:
- A proven track record in B2B business development and winning new business
- Experience selling products rather than purely service-based solutions
- Background in packaging, consumables, industrial supplies, distribution, manufacturing, or a related sector would be ideal.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or leading less experienced sales colleagues
- Confidence using CRM systems and sales data to manage pipelines and forecast performance
- A proactive, energetic, and resilient approach
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- An interest in using AI and technology to improve prospecting and sales performance
