Business Development Manager - London Market

We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join our London Market team. This is a highly visible role focused on developing and managing strategic broker relationships across the Commercial Insurance sector in the heart of the London Market driving profitable growth and strengthening Allianz's position within the market.

You'll work closely with a portfolio of assigned broker accounts mainly in the global broker & international broker segment as well as looking after a number of key independent brokers. Identifying new business opportunities and delivering solutions across Allianz UK's broad commercial offering.

As a trusted market representative, you will collaborate with underwriting, trading, distribution and specialist business teams to maximise opportunities and deliver exceptional outcomes for brokers and customers alike. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, influencing key stakeholders and operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where no two days are the same.

Role Description

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Allianz's London Market growth strategy by:

  • Developing and managing the relationship with a portfolio of key London broker relationships within our Mid-Market team, mainly focused on global and international brokers creating and delivering strategic account plans that drive profitable growth and strengthen Allianz's market position.
  • Building strong relationships with broker decision-makers and key stakeholders across the London Market.
  • Identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities aligned to Allianz's underwriting appetite and growth ambitions.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor and primary relationship lead for assigned broker accounts, both internally and externally.
  • Collaborating closely with underwriting and distribution teams to maximise trading opportunities and improve broker engagement.
  • Promoting opportunities and collaborating across the wider Allianz Group, including Inspection Services, large corporate, Allianz Trade and Legal Protection.
  • Monitoring portfolio performance, market trends and competitor activity to identify areas for growth and improvement.
  • Supporting innovative business development initiatives and contributing to broader regional and national strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and governance requirements.

Salary Information

  • Pay: Circa £60,000 per year.
  • Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

Highly motivated and commercially focused professional with a proven track record of developing successful broker relationships within the Commercial Insurance market.

  • Confident operating in a relationship-led environment and comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders across both broker and insurer communities.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience within the Commercial Insurance sector, ideally with strong exposure to the London Market.
  • Established broker network and experience managing key intermediary relationships.
  • Strong understanding of London Market trading practices, broker distribution models and commercial insurance products.
  • Demonstrable success in delivering profitable growth through strategic business development activities.
  • Exceptional relationship management, networking, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong commercial mindset and growth-focused approach.
  • Strong financial and analytical capability with the ability to interpret performance data and identify opportunities.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, resilient and capable of working independently while influencing cross-functional teams.
