Business Development Manager – South West & South Wales
Building Products / Construction Supplies
£46,000 – £50,000 + Car / Car Allowance + Bonus
South West & South Wales
We are recruiting a Business Development Manager on behalf of a leading manufacturer within the construction and building products sector.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established manufacturer, taking responsibility for developing an already successful region with a turnover of circa £15m.
The role will focus on generating demand with regional housebuilders, developers, contractors and other end users, while working closely with established builders’ merchant and distribution partners to convert opportunities into profitable sales.
This is not simply a merchant branch-calling role. You will work closely with merchant sales teams, undertake joint customer visits, identify new projects and opportunities, visit construction sites and develop relationships directly with end users. You will also engage with procurement, commercial and design teams, taking opportunities from initial identification through to sale via the merchant/distribution network.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
