Business Development Manager | Stoke-on-Trent | £40,000-£45,000 DOE + strong bonus potential, car allowance & wider benefits

Do you enjoy opening doors, winning new customers, and turning a cold prospect into a trading account?

We're recruiting a Business Development Manager for an established business supplying an incredible range of consumer products to UK and international markets. This is a true hunter role. You'll actively seek out new business, create your own opportunities, and take them through to profitable sales.

The role

As Business Development Manager, you'll identify prospective customers, reach the right decision-makers, and build a compelling case for them to buy.

Your priorities will include:

  • Researching and targeting new customers, sectors, and routes to market.
  • Proactively prospecting, opening conversations, and securing meetings.
  • Developing tailored proposals and negotiating commercial terms.
  • Building a qualified pipeline and progressing opportunities through to first order.
  • Delivering new business revenue and margin targets.
  • Establishing new customers before handing them into account management.

This is an office-based role in Stoke-on-Trent, with prospect meetings, trade shows, and UK and international travel as required.

  • A proven track record of winning new B2B customers through proactive prospecting.
  • Evidence of personally generating opportunities and converting them into revenue.
  • Confidence approaching buyers and senior decision-makers.
  • Strong questioning, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • A growth mindset, with a willingness to learn, take feedback on board, and continually improve your approach and results.
  • Commercial understanding of pricing, margin, and profitable deals.
  • Experience managing a sales pipeline, forecasting, and maintaining CRM records.
