Business Development Manager – On Trade

  • Do you have a passion for beer and experience building relationships across the On-Trade?
  • Are you confident winning new business and growing existing accounts within Independent Free Trade?
  • Looking for an opportunity to represent one of the UK's most recognised craft beer brands?

MacGregor Black is partnering with a leading brewer on the search for a Business Development Manager. This is a permanent, field-based role covering the North East of England

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a thriving On-Trade territory, developing relationships across independent pubs, bars, restaurants, and leased & tenanted operators. You'll be responsible for driving distribution, increasing visibility, and delivering sustainable commercial growth for an award-winning portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow a portfolio of On-Trade customers across your territory
  • Identify and win new business opportunities within Independent Free Trade and leased & tenanted accounts
  • Build strong relationships with publicans, operators, and decision-makers to maximise distribution and rate of sale
  • Deliver impactful brand activations, promotions, and in-venue visibility initiatives
  • Manage account performance through regular customer visits and commercial reviews
  • Work closely with internal teams to execute national and regional commercial plans
  • Monitor competitor activity and identify opportunities to grow market share
  • Accurately manage CRM, sales reporting, and territory planning to maximise performance

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience within field sales, preferably within Beer, Drinks, or wider FMCG
  • Good understanding of the UK On-Trade and Independent Free Trade landscape
  • Proven ability to develop existing accounts whilst identifying and converting new business opportunities
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building skills
  • Commercially driven with the ability to work autonomously and manage your own territory
  • Passionate about the drinks industry with a proactive and resilient approach
  • Full UK driving licence
